Have they no thought or respect for the poor Council workers who have to retrieve and dispose of such ghastly items.

This fatality on the 'Rust' film set. I keep on asking myself why do film makers use real guns on set? Prop guns and special effects give the same look.

Perhaps this will be the turning point for banning real guns from film sets?

 

Just heard about this on the news, his explanation is he never pulled the trigger, but he did pull back the hammer then let it go.
Sounds like the old expression of "going off half cocked to me".

He says he feels no responsibility.

Admittedly someone was responsible for ,maybe, giving him a gun with a live round in it, but if you was going to point this at someone, wouldn't you just have a quick look yourself?

 

Apparently, the duds are made using real bullets, just emptying them out and replacing the content with harmless stuff that makes a bang. So checking the bullets would not have told him much.

The gun culture over there is so very different.

I'm following closely some discussions of my American colleagues and am quite shocked of the cultural differences. Many people just like me have a license to carry a concealed gun and actually do so.

Would I ever carry a loaded gun when popping into ASDA for groceries? Out there, it's a Right to do so, and is practised by ordinary people doing their everyday things.

Having loaded guns in a film set, and using them recreationally during the breaks for target shooting etc is quite likely- it's a right and a hobby to many. A mix up is possible.

Regarding Baldwin saying he didn't pull the trigger, that smells like a statement from his lawyers. Guns don't fire themselves.

A very sad story indeed, a young person with children has died an unnecessary death.
