BBC non news. Who would have guessed?

The UK has reported the record number of daily Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 78,610 new cases on Wednesday.

I watched 5 minutes of the BoJo press conference - same old drivel I'm afraid. Whitters saying that we can't rely upon the South Africa experience as many people there are vaccinated. Yes, Chris - 95% of the UK population have either a vaccine induced or natural immunity - I don't understand how this supports your suggestion that Omicron is as lethal as Delta - so we all need to run around like headless chickens.

Am I missing something obvious here?

              It doesn't.
Sadly, neither does a negative test because you can either:
              a) use a screenshot image of someone else's
              b) scan the code and say you are negative yourself and bin the test
              c) scan the code from someone else's negative on your app and declare yourself negative

This is the belter right here - Omicron: Why do boosters work if two doses struggle?

                upload_2021-12-15_18-30-57.png

Read that sentence twice - three times if needs be.

So, the double vaccinated folks have almost no protection from Omnicon.... but, they should still be at greatly reduced risk from being severely ill and needing hospital care. Erm, surely that is exactly what the vaccine is supposed to do, and that IS protection from Omnicon? It either offers no protection, or it does, which is it?

                upload_2021-12-15_18-33-32.png

So the contents of the syringe is exactly the same as it was, but it is not just more of the same for the immune system. Errr... yes, it is. When I paint my ceiling with Crown matt white emulsion twice I get a nice white ceiling. If I run over it again six months later with Crown matt white emulsion it doesn't suddenly turn blue or green!

Also, the comment about the third dose is more 'memorable' than you had before - - are they taking you out for a steak dinner beforehand? Maybe a day trip to Paris and a romantic meal?

To anyone from the BBC reading this - hit me up, I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

As I understand it the booster dose is, in most cases, a different vaccine.
In my case I had 2 AZ ones followed by a Pfizer, some are getting Moderna as a booster.

AZ seems to be taking a back seat now.

Couldn't agree more - vaccines stop people dying - they're not designed to stop people getting infected or to stop mild symptoms.

The BBC just happen to concentrate on infection levels and mild symptoms - which don't mean diddly squat in the great scheme of things.

The more I look into covid - the less faith I have in the media - it's not looking good for renewal of the TV licence next year.

Interesting tit bit - AZ is the most administered vaccine - Pfizer I think second. Pfizer and Moderna give longer lasting immunity - which is why it is being used as a booster.

But - when it really mattered - at the start of the pandemic - AZ made the biggest difference and saved the most bottoms.

I assume we are still using up supplies of vaccine which the government first ordered a year ago.

also have the highest covid cases.

I'm fairly sure that the virus isn't that intelligent.

Mind you, if you believe the government it does know the difference between you meeting your colleagues in the office or in a restaurant.

Until they concentrate on hospitalisation figures I dont think there is much point in listening.
As we know, even the death figures are skewed and infection figures will always revolve around how many tests are being used.
And you can bet, (by the fact you cant get any tests after the Boris blurrb of the other night), testing is going through the roof.

Probably true. According to the Worldometer, the UK has done 380,861,666 tests. Only the USA and India have done more tests. So, taking this into account, more tests will inevitably result in more positive cases being recorded.

There is other factors to take into account, the UK is a densely populated country. The countries with the least deaths per 1 million population also happen to be in the least densely populated.
Iceland, Finland and Norway have recorded the least deaths per 1 million population in Europe, they are also the least densely populated.
