              @Victoria - it's my favourite place but there are drawbacks. During summer it swarms with tourists and midges.

                  @Sheal ,..Ullapool on Loch Broom has everything that entices one to visit,..tranquil,..tourists and the midge,..hard to figure which is worse if they come in swarms :),..beautiful images.

                    Thank you Philip. :) I love the history here and castles are always my main attraction, though there's not that many this far north that are open to the public.

                    I did exaggerate a little about swarms of midges. They aren't too bad but will gather around water or damp, warm areas.

                      The area around my home. On the opposite side of the road there's a Christmas tree plantation and we hear the chainsaws start up in November.

                      Just a few minutes walk away.

                      Up above the plantation the overhead lines, which I could hear buzzing, give you an idea how high it is.

                              Nice and sunny and beautiful scenery but oh so cold. It seems a lovely area for walking :smile: I hope it wasn't too slippery under foot for you. It's nice to have some fresh air in the sunshine.
