My new news------Our Christmas gift to each other was the purchase of a 2nd home. We go to settlement Jan. 14. It is down on the coast of North Carolina. So I get to furnish and entire house, kitchen stuff, 3 bedrooms etc. my list is endless. It has beautiful wood floors and gray stone fireplace which I will play off my color choices from in furniture selections etc. We have an awesome deck and nice dock to walk to the end of a beautiful inlet that leads to the ocean. Still maintain our home up North as I will not give up my gardens. So that will be my next years project. The present owner toured me about his property pointing out his plantings stating he labeled them so the next person could not hurt them. I named off all the shrubs he had, told him of my garden and assured him all would be well with my care. He seemed pleased. its only half an acre so for me not a challenge. Shared with him my You Tube site. Our main priority is views, water views, the house is on an inlet that leads to the ocean, so fishing our other hobby is on the list. Good views from the deck, water and sunset. Houses are closer than I am used to but the back is private. Its in a active community with a golf course near, (we don't). Seems on their facebook community site they are active in group things, might be interesting, we shall see but not sure how much time I will be there over the long run as I love my current house and of course the garden. And of course we have the other hobby--the show car. And I am retired, LOL. Oh, yes, and the cats, can't leave them for too long. Life is interesting.

:roflol: Good heavens, this is too funny! If you were to reread my original post, you would see that I was talking about rolling TABLE CLOTHS onto the tubes to keep them crease free, nothing to do with baking. :roflol:

      Thanks for the laugh!

Your also too funny as you decided to support the transition from using tubes from table clothes to using them for food items. and now you want to back track. its ok, I do miss you my dear.

Taken from a local website - slow news day perhaps . Mind you the squirrel does look like he's about to kick off...

An aggressive squirrel is reported to be terrorising residents in Buckley

Furniture up cycling day today. Constant rain. All but finished the second bedside cabinet:

                Cab1.jpg

                and a coffee table:

                Table.jpg

I decided to paint the existing knobs - it was difficult to find 50mm wide replacements and those that I could find were mega bucks.

Here are the painted knobs fitted to the first bedside cabinet:

                Knobs.jpg

I've got enough paint left to easily do the tall boy - around half of the paint has been used on 2 bedside cabinets and 2 coffee tables.

Painting the furniture turns out to be quite an easy job as long as you spend some time preparing - sanding and priming before the top coat.

The paint seem to flatten itself out as it dries - so no worries about brush marks.

Looks great @clanless ! You've encouraged me to get on with some painting I need to do around here. I have the paint for my kitchen cabinet doors and have only painted one really bad trouble spot. I should start working on the rest. And all of my bedrooms need a refresh. I've had the Benjamin Moore paint fan out looking at all of the colours and I think that is going to take the longest. The colour selection.

We've gone for all white - walls - ceilings - doors - the lot. Main reason being that it makes the rooms lighter and there's no cutting in - one coat does everything. An added benefit is that the walls are now ideal for holding a projector image - which means no TV's cluttering up the rooms.

I've invested in one of these Wagner electric sprayers - so the next time a room needs sprucing up - it should be a fairly easy job once everything has been covered up :dbgrtmb:.

Oh I wish you hadn't mentioned ceilings. The bedrooms all have that old fashioned "popcorn" stucco style. I have watched a few you tubes on how to remove it but watching the prep alone tires me out!

They don't have any marks on them so I could just leave them..

I can't plead the failing eyesight. That was the one curse of getting my cataracts/vision fixed. Now I can see everything!

@clanless wouldn't you still need to do a lot of masking even with a spray painter. I figured it would be even worse worrying about the overspray on the window frames or even glass. Is the spray width fairly narrow? I've never used one so you peaked my curiosity. :)

Painting ceilings, done with that, last time I painted a ceiling my neck hurt for a whole week, now I employ a young one to paint for me. My doctor told me I have a start of cataracts, so far still can thread a needle without glasses, so waiting for a bit before I do anything.
