Nah, I had it back in October so it isn't that - I just got unlucky I suppose. I came home with Mrs C from her work as she was first to have it, then me and now Little C has it - unsurprisingly, the girls have faired better with it than I did, albeit still not a good experience for them. The point is that we can be as careful as we like but that is no guarantee that you won't catch something.

As sure as I can be - I still have sense of taste and smell for a start. Symptoms match near on 100% with flu as well (rapid onset, chills/fever cycle, thumping headache, whole body ache etc) - there is zero point in doing a test as flu and the common cold will show as positive on a covid test

Omicron will be kept under control for vulnerable people - by popping a pill.

A new oral COVID-19 treatment has been approved for adults in Britain who are at high risk of developing severe infection.

The treatment called Paxlovid has been approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) after it was found to be safe and effective at reducing the risk of hospitalisation and death in people with mild to moderate COVID-19 infection who are at an increased risk of developing severe disease.

If any country in the UK tries to introduce another lock down - I don't think that they are going to like the public reaction.

My oldest son and his partner have Covid. They got their positive results yesterday. She is asymptomatic and can go back to work after 5 days. He is not well but no worse than having a nasty cold/touch of flu so I am not at all worried. He said his symptoms are already starting to recede so he'll be fine in a few days. They were both double vaxxed so that is probably why the mild or non existent symptoms.

          New rules over here are:
If you are asymptomatic with a positive test, it's 5 days isolation for you.
If you are symptomatic, it is 5 days after the symptoms disappear.
If you maybe, possibly came in contact with someone who is infected but are double vaxxed, you don't have to isolate.

And even if your rapid test shows positive, unless you have severe symptoms, don't turn up looking for a PCR test. Those are for people who are really sick, not just suffering with cold/flu like symptoms.

In other words, if you aren't going to die, suck it up butter cup. Be a responsible adult. No whinging!

Someone said here previously but I don't remember who. The new omicron covid is the old flu.

I was under the impression that covid was similar to sars and was a relative of the common cold.

I thought Flu was a totally different virus.

Not got anything to back that up, just think I read it somewhere.

If the tests are really showing positives for things like the common cold and flu, are you suggesting that the thing we are all calling Omicron is just a cold that it is probably not covid at all.

A while back, I mentioned censorship of views that do not 'comply' with the narrative and in the past few days I've seen a couple of fairly significant ones.

            upload_2021-12-31_16-34-24.png

The above is marked as Misleading by Twitter with people not allowed to reply/discuss/like the tweet. Now I am distrusting of almost every source of data, but I think I am on fairly safe ground in saying that a Doctor has a better grasp on what their own observations are as opposed to what Twitter seems to think they have observed.

            And then there is this:

Who is Robert W Malone? Not all that important a voice to be heard in this pandemic really, only the guy who invented the mRNA technology used in the vaccines (here is a link to the paper published in 1989 - Cationic liposome-mediated RNA transfection.)

Now, whether or not what either of these people have said is correct or not is open to debate.... or at least, should be because that is what science is all about. To cancel/de-platform/restrict them because their view does not match the narrative is downright sinister at best. If this sort of thing does not shake you to your core, then I worry for you.

Although from the US, it would seem that this is trustworthy having come from the CDC - how either of those relate to Covid, I have no idea.

If you look at bottles of disinfectants from way before all this started, they mention that they are effective on coronaviruses and this is where the waters have been muddied (deliberately, some might say) - - the cold, the flu are all coronaviruses and they will all trigger a positive test, particularly the lateral flow ones (bear in mind that school kids worked out that juice would also trigger a positive test); whether that means that people having the cold is the reason for our high 'case' numbers, well I don't know the answer to that one ;)

Well all I can say is, if the tests they are sending out in their millions cant tell the difference between a cold, flu or covid, then the whole thing is a farce.
                And a very expensive one.

Cases going down in South Africa. What's happening is South Africa will happen here - are you listening Boris?

Their approach is back to normal if you don't feel ill - including asymptomatic. If feeling iffy isolate for a couple of days.

Apparently a touch over 800 people are in UK hospitals because of covid - from a population of 67 million.

It will all be over February - at least in vaccinated countries - we now need to turn our attention to countries with low vaccination levels and chuck everything we have at them.

So many indicators of what sort of farce this is, not least:

                    "With" Covid
Within 28 days of a positive test
You can have it, test positive for it and pass it on yet never feel remotely ill
                    Juice triggers a positive test
                    Self Certification of test results

and that is before we get to the activities of many people in government circles and things such as COP26...

The test can tell the difference - I don't think that even BoJo is silly enough to shell out all that dosh on dodgy tests.

My understanding is that the cold is a corona virus but the flu is not. We live with colds - soon we will be living with covid.

I wonder if it would be possible to artificially engineer an Omicron equivalent for when the next virus hits us? Omicron has saved our collective back sides. Lord help us if Omicron turned out to be more harmful as well as more easily transmitted - or perhaps he already has.

I've just nipped over to the BBC and a local news outlet. Both doom mongering over the increasing number of infections. Perhaps someone should point out that infection leads to natural immunity - which is stronger immunity than the jab and which will help us fight off any other variants that pop their head up. We will all end up getting Omicron - it's inevitable - all we have to do is make sure that we are ready to fight it off. Anti vaxxers take note....

The facts are manipulated so much in the media - I'm all for freedom of the press - but for goodness sake...
