Oh dear @Gizmo. Get thee to an allergist. I had chest infections year after year. And only found out after my last pet passed away (natural causes/old age) that I was allergic to them and thus the constant chest issues. I love the little furry ones and miss having one about. But I do get to visit them at friends or clients. I take an antihistamine before I go to visit and don't stick around too long but I get my furry friend fix! :blue thumb:

I still do not understand why people who are not sick are taking the tests. Is there a contest to see how high we can push the numbers? Is it volunteering to help the media stoke panic?

It's not so much the number of mutations in a variant as to the effect of these on the infectivity and illness severity of the variant that matters.

thanks but i expect like a lot of people hate the goverments so called advice and people are getting tired and confused which way to turn ,
we like a lot of people being on benefits have had to manage with out any support from goverment as we are not on universal credit only esa pip carers allowance .
with benefits the goverment has not aloud support for people being on legecy benefit with is terrible as everyone has suffered and continue to suffer through this terrible goveerment
we have struggled over the past 2 years allthough had 3 jabs we are terrified in going out but we have to walk rocco ..

That's all down to Boris and the main stream media - when you look just behind the headline figures - you can see that covid deaths are level/going down slightly. Yes, loads of infections - but this is not translating into a 3rd wave of people going upstairs. I would reckon that once Delta has been pushed out of the hospitals by Omicron (which won't be long now) - all will return to 'normal' - whatever that is.

Flu takes a fairly heavy toll each year - we get the flu jabs - but no one has been wearing masks of self isolating during the flu season.

While Boris pfaffs about frightening people - I wonder what the toll is for cancelling operations and delaying diagnoses?

I hope Boris throws more cash into research - we need to be ready for when the next virus hits us.

Ikea has cut sick pay for unvaccinated staff who need to self-isolate because of Covid exposure, joining a growing list of firms changing their rules.

What they really mean to say is that so many people are taking advantage of the self isolation rules - for a paid week off work - that we need to stop it happening - we can't afford it anymore.
