Mrs JWK was given a pack today when she had to go to the pharmacy for a prescription, they asked her for the collection code but her phones couldn't scan their QR code so they just handed her a pack.

The rumours about having to pay for tests at some point will only increase demand now.

That's right @pete it's the same mentality that saw people stockpiling bog paper and emptying filling stations

I actually think this guy has his thinking cap on! Don't mandate vaccinations as it would be trampling your rights but make you pay for your decision. :dbgrtmb:

"Adult Quebecers who won’t get vaccinated and don’t have a medical exemption will be forced to pay a health “contribution,” Quebec Premier Francois Legault told reporters on Tuesday. Legault said the amount of the penalty hasn’t been decided but will be “significant.”

About 10 per cent of adult Quebecers aren’t vaccinated, but they represent about half of all patients in intensive care, Legault said, adding that the unvaccinated should be forced to pay for the extra burden they are placing on the health-care system.

“I think right now it’s a question of fairness for the 90 per cent of the population who made some sacrifices,” Legault said. “I think we owe them this kind of measure.”"

100%. My 20 year old son called an ambulance before Christmas because, after 3 days trying to sleep upright in a chair, he realised his breathing was dangerously problematic. They told him it would be 4 hours at least to get an ambulance to him. He lives in central Bristol so they worked out that, with help from his flatmates, he could get to the Bristol Royal Infirmary (where the ambulance would have taken him) under his own steam, in 3 minutes.

                So he walked.

After several hours he agreed with the staff that a) his breathing was now significantly better (not actual better...just better than it had been) and b) he had lectures to go to so couldn't wait any longer for the chest X-Ray he needed.

The Bristol Royal Infirmary has since put all ambulances and referrals onto divert. They are full of the unvaccinated.

My tolerance for those who refuse treatment for no good reason while risking the lives of their neighbours (lets be honest: killing their neighbours) is very low. Given that innocents are dying in numbers...isn't this self indulgence now criminal?

I wonder if he took the same view with his polio vaccine? Or maybe he didn't consult Facebook in that instance? He may be wearing scrubs. But the actual epidmeiologists... Much as I absolutely hate to agree with Sajid Javid...appalling man that he is: his refuge in 'we take advice from the experts' cannot be beaten.

And this doctor's colleagues will hate him, I guarantee

I read that 60-90% (two widely varying reports) of A&E and HDU beds are unvaccinated.

Here's the deal. Just get the vaccine. The benefits outweigh the downsides by orders of magnitude - as repoprted to us by actual experts scientists who have PhDs and decades of research experience, unlike Aunty Jean on Facebook who doesn't and can be safely ignored. And if you don't get vaccinated, you might transmit Covid to someone like my friend who has long covid and is completely screwed. Permanently. At which point your libertarian values might not add up to quite so much.

This is absolutely disgraceful. Those whose relatives have died of Omicron. Those who could not get treated because the unvaccinated and unmasked blocked hospitals. Those who chose pop-science and Facebook over actual epidemiologists...

Shall we ask the actual scientists inovled in Covid what they think? I can assure you they do not think Omicron is anything but serious. Here is the WHO on OMICRON (as opposed to deadly conspiracy - that is - anti-science conspiracy that kills people. That is: real people who die because every day people indulge themselves in and spread anti-science conspiracy like on this thread) (from the WHO website - look it up).

                      Recommended actions for people

The most effective steps individuals can take to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus is to keep a physical distance of at least 1 metre from others; wear a well-fitting mask; open windows to improve ventilation; avoid poorly ventilated or crowded spaces; keep hands clean; cough or sneeze into a bent elbow or tissue; and get vaccinated when it’s their turn.

I think this is really true. I'm not a doctor or an epidemiologist, so I don't know relatively how bad covid is. I've got a mate who is proper screweed and permanently so. She was a documentary maker before and journalist. Never again. Lungs and brain - gone. But maybe flu does that also? I don't know. Covid certainly can.

So what I do know is that the folks working front line are clear on what they want me to do. So I'll just do that. Doesn't cost me much after all.

I think he needs to look up the word coercion. I'd also suggest folks want to be very careful about being gleeful of this sort of policy - they may be less happy with it when they are charged more because they drink alcohol or eat the 'wrong' foods.

I think we are charged more for drinking alcohol, taxed up to the hilt.

Some people even wanted a fat tax and don't we already have a sugar tax.
Then there is the extortionate driving tax.
