I am seriously considering purchasing a console - something that I can hook up to the projector via HDMI. Have been put off the idea of a gaming pc as they are far too expensive - £1,000's rather than £100's for console.

Anyone with either a XBox of PS flavoured console - what do you think of it?
How did you decide on that particular brand/model?
What sort of 'net speed is needed for on-line game play?

I'm thinking multiplayer - something like Battlefield 2042.

    Ta

I've had console since I were a kid Sega mega drive 2 was my first + Dreamcast / Nintendo's and Playstation 1-4 and a bit on the PC but nothing fancy . Depends what you want a console for ? My own opinion PlayStation beat Xbox hands down, xbox maybe better for surfing the web though . I'd go with the PS for online gaming its person preference really you either like PS or XBOX . PS5 are like hot cakes you'll be lucky to get one

I was into the Xbox in a big way. Just a 360 and never playing online. I had about 100 games for it but my favourite was Forza 4 played with the force feedback wheel and pedal set.
I was also keen on flight sims but never found one I liked for the console. Any first-person shooters too and Tomb Raider.
When we moved house in the summer I gave them all away to my grandson who thought they were so "retro".

I used to have a couple of playstation consoles and played similar games. You don't need an amazing broadband speed for it to work effectively.
I plan to go back to one in the future when the kids are old enough to appreciate them and watch as daddy kicks their butts lol

You're right - I've just done a bit of googling. The closest I can get is a 2nd hand PS4 - for mega bucks. I'm going to wait until the PS5 comes back into stock :blue thumb:.

Must be to do with the shortage of silicon chips - which is bashing the car industry as well. My car took 6 months from order to delivery - because of the silicon situation.

I do fancy some of this VR kit - I think Sony have a plug-n-play headset for their consoles.
