I have never had a cold that I can remember and I have had the flu twice, both times before I moved here in 2001 ... so I am "coco" out of luck! ;)

Boris - absences are going to continue until you get rid of the self isolation rules - people are simply taking advantage of the rules for time off. You've seen the number of people on ventilation going down despite the massive infection rates - what more do you need?

If you want the economy to get moving - get rid of self isolation - you will need people in work to generate your increase in NI.

About a million children in England - one out of every eight pupils - were off school last Thursday, as Covid-related absences rose.

The official figures also show staffing problems worsening, with a quarter of schools seeing teachers and leaders' absence rates above 15%.

Mark will be receiving a stiff e-mail if he doesn't start lifting restrictions very soon.

Pfizer and BioNTech have started clinical trials of a new Covid vaccine which targets the Omicron variant.

Why? Omicron is here now - most people in the UK have already been infected, or will be infected before the trials complete. Natural immunity is better than vaccine induced immunity.

The vaccine makers (apart from AZ) have already made a huge profits - do they really want more?

Good point, perhaps It might be helpful for extra vulnerable people like those who suffer from asthma or the very weak elderly.. But that's just my guess.

The Danes seem to have sorted it out - why can't the UK?

Denmark is set to lift all coronavirus restrictions in the country from 1 February despite record numbers of cases driven by the Omicron variant, with the government stating that the high percentage of vaccinated people and the less severe nature of the new strain has rendered continued curbs on society redundant.

Perhaps different in Wales @clanless? Here in England we are on Plan A which is essentially no restrictions.

We went and got our Pfizer Boosters today ... in and out in 8 minutes, no queues no waiting, plus 15 minutes "observation" but we only stayed 10 minutes. At this point both fine.

Shock! T'other Half showed me how to get into my account with the SNS (NHS) on my phone and surprise ... my new Covid Certificate was already up showing 3/3 dated 02/02/22 ... a date to remember, so I printed it out. :hapfeet:

Another date I remember is 02/02/02 when I rendered a wall and dated it!.

Went into B&Q today - to pick up some indoor house plants. A sign at the door said wear a mask - I didn't - I reckon half the staff were without masks and about 80% of the customers. Quite liberating - its time to fling open the doors - 2 years is enough.
