WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2022

That is okay in my books. Nothing forces us to do things. I could have pulled some weeds in pots today ... but I didn't. There is always another day.

 

I make it a habit to take regular breaks during the day at home office to have a little poke around in the garden. Just quickly checking if my overload of spring bulbs are showing signs (yes, daffs are very much up as well as some new to me that I forgot to label, you know, the tall purple things on offer at JParkins... and there is a wiff of Anemones showing their first tender bent necks in pots ) and putting this and that away, filling the bird feeders... Very relaxing and inspiring especially at this time of the year.

This evening I had to go out to secure everything in place. Storm Malik is on its way. With a bit of luck it will blow off a couple of my neighbour's roof tiles so that I can have replacements for the ones the last storm took off my roof. Apparently the firm who made our tiles in 1929 in Belgium can no longer supply replacements

 

Neither have I. And you can tell because nothing is growing

 

Done nothing much in the garden this week but did pop to a well known GC today and very luckily picked up 2 potted David Austin Rose's Dame Judi Dench & David L Austin. In the clearance section I'll get them in the ground soon.

 

I cleaned the slippery path with Jeyes Fluid, I was very surprised to see that the contents were a clear liquid, not the usual Black stuff.

Also painted one side of the shed.

 

Its not much different to a normal household cleaner these days.
The old stuff was FAR toooo DANGEROUS.

 

Took delivery of a 100L tub for three of my Tree Lilies. I painted a couple of copper coloured bands around the circumference to break up the uniform black. My good lady hates these large black containers.

 

Possibly too dangerous in the wrong hands but I was always very careful when using it.
I would expect everything we use these days could be dangerous to some thing somewhere.

 

Taking into consideration that I was watching weed killing being carried out by water, or more correctly steam a few months ago, that is probably a true statement!

 

Nothing today and not before the weekend's over. After the big wind of last night with more to come tomorrow and Monday, I'll be out there clearing up the damage to the pine trees.





Surprisingly my neighbour's 100 year old shed you can see above is still standing.

 

Waiting for Tuesday so that I can start doing things, it should be a good day. Ordered a pair of safety glasses to garden with so I don't get anything in my eyes.
