"Four senior aides to Boris Johnson have resigned from Downing Street"
Must be one of the few times the ships have deserted a sinking rat.

When we bought our car from Ford last year we were told that the problem was with supplies coming from Japan. Hitachi had a huge fire where they manufacture the electronic parts.

Seems @clanless, that the EU agrees with you regarding nuclear. We also have gas plants as well. Renewables aren't that great a solution for us and trying to go that route cost this province a lot of it's industry. The price for power got too high and companies moved. And the prices have never dropped, only gone up with our federal carbon tax increasing every time you turn around.
And this was in this morning's paper. Kinda confirms the direction we all need to go.

They could be if new-builds were designed to sit over a bore-hole to provide true geothermal heat via a 'wet' system. Oh wait, though.....with a density of about 18 houses/acre, there probably wouldn't be enough heat to go around, not to mention England probably collapsing in on itself ;):loll:

Quite a few new builds around here are collapsing anyway.

If you take enough heat out the ground you could create permafrost in theory.

We have an area where sink holes keep opening up, people said they would never build there.
But they did, none have totally collapsed, yet, but it's a bit unnerving waking up in your new house and the garden has disappeared in the night.

What an utter pratt - some lines are just never crossed:

Comedian Jimmy Carr has sparked outrage for a routine about the Holocaust in his latest Netflix stand-up special.

Carr has been described as "truly disturbing" for making light of the murders of hundreds of thousands of people from Europe's traveller communities during World War Two.

Wasn't Jimmy Carr caught out fiddling his taxes a few years back? I'd get banned if I wrote what I really think about him.

It always surprises me that public figures, or anyone actually, can be so idiotic. It's just something that isn't mocked. Everyone knows this, surely?

I'd like to hear what he actually said before making a judgement.
Lots of throwing hands in the air these days about things and the subject is considered so taboo that we don't ever get to hear what was said.
He probably was out of line I'm not defending him,but I can't condemn him either because I don't know what he said.
Whoopi Goldberg, was it, said something the other day that was considered horrendous, and she had to make a public apology.

She got suspended from the ABC talk show for it. Although she didn't intended it to be offensive she definitely was because she didn't understand what the Holocaust was. I find her ignorance of it rather worrying.

At least she has now apologised a number of times in different forms and media and says she now understands the situation.

This is an interesting interview of the select committee interview, with Ian Hislop, about lobbying and Owen Patterson.

A sideline on it is that when the cameras move round they show, in the background, people that are notetakers and advisors behind screens. When the cameras turn their way they then put on masks!

I've just googled "race", and it's a total mine field, from only 3 different races on the planet to every one who speaks the same language and background.
The term "race " appears to be very vague.
I don't think she said anything wrong, but if she didn't grovel in her apology all hell would have descended upon her.
