    Good morning everyone.

Had a right old battering from the wind last night but now all is calm and the sun is trying to make an appearance.

Try and have a relaxing day.....if that's possible!!

      Aloha everyone,

Busy day for us. Family Zooms and then friends round all afternoon and evening.

Some home made lemon drizzle cake but not made by me. The lady that makes it does a fantastic job (used to be our most popular cake for the Open Garden) and she only charges us £2.60. I buy 6 of them at a time as it is the batch amount she cooks in one go. For our open garden she used to make a variety of cakes and we got through 75 of them at the weekend. Two fruit cakes were specially baked and reserved for Armandii for him to take home.

Curry tonight for the four of us - two vegetarians and two carnivores. Popadoms, Shami kebabs (veggie and beef ones - cooked the proper way), lamb Naga, chicken Dhansak and a few veggie curries. Mango Lassi to drink and dessert is fresh mango and choc ices.

      Keep well

      Aloha!

          Good day,
@shiney one of my favourites is anything lemon. The cake sounds great. I might make that next weekend as I've already got a boiled cake to eat my way through this week.

The sunrise was really pretty this morning however it is still pretty cold. I'm looking forward to when at least the days go above freezing.

I've got the bread maker pummeling some dough to make some panzerotti for a friend. And today is linen washing day. Not very much really.

Have a super day everyone :coffee:

Good morning everyone, hope you're all well and had a restful weekend.

A good day is forecast today so I have a few outside jobs that definitely need attending to today, so that and a clean of the kitchen are top on my agenda.

              Have a super day!

                Aloha everyone,

                Yesterday went well :blue thumb:

When the frost has disappeared today :fingers crossed: I shall do some more gardening but until then I shall be working hard to clear the pile of paperwork on my desk.

                Keep well

                Aloha!

                  Good day
It is a mild day 25f -5c and the sun is battling through light clouds.

The couple of feet of snow out there has not melted so I guess lawn mowing won't be happening today either.:heehee:

I have a couple of things on my to do list but I don't remember what those are and the list is downstairs. Oh well. I'll just read the news instead. :)

Have a lovely day and cheers! :coffee:

                        Aloha everyone,

I'm in for another busy day but shall get a little bit of gardening done. I'm now trying to edge the beds in the most difficult part of the garden for it. It's amongst a couple of dozen trees so there are a lot of largish heavy surface roots and the rest is a mat of fine hair like roots.

Also, when Lewis comes along to morrow his first job is to work on the heavy roots that protrude through the lawn in that area. We try to be as careful as possible but as the roots get bigger we have to slice them, carefully, horizontally to just below surface level to save the mower from chopping them. I can no longer do that as it takes a lot of careful effort whilst bent over. We then seal the cuts with Arbrex. Most of the neighbours have never bothered to do that and they eventually just have the trees removed.

For the last couple of weeks I have been clearing branches, mostly twiggy ones, that have been brought down by the winds. Yesterday Mrs Shiney and I filled three wheelie bins with them and the council collect tomorrow. Any we can't bin end up on the bonfire - but the ash gets put back into the ground. :)

I've just finished doing all Barry's benefits claims :phew:. It all seems such an unnecessary burden for both him and the benefits people as he has been disabled from birth. I took over doing it for him when his father died 39 years ago :rolleyespink:

                        Keep well

                          Good day
It is 24f -4c and cloudy so another mild day.

@shiney I find the silliness from the government frustrating as well. For someone who will never see a miraculous improvement to their mobility or other abilities, the benefits should be automatic until death do them part!

@Upsydaisy is your operation early in the day tomorrow? We need to know so that we will not bother you too early after the procedure with barrages of questions.

@Flumpy you and I and everyone else here will be rooting for Upsy won't we? :blue thumb:

@Michael Hewett just an fyi that I am still enjoying the boiled cake - I've been having it for dessert after breakfast :)

I've got a bit of sewing to do and I guess I'd best do that today. The cloudiness isn't allowing the sun to offer free D so it will be a day inside. And I may start some more seeds too so it's sewing and sowing.. :heehee:

                          Cheers :coffee:

I've never heard of that being done to roots @shiney, I wonder of they work as well after it ?

I've been doing it for at least 20 years. I just slice the protruding part of the root to just below the surface. It certainly doesn't seem to have had a detrimental effect. The majority of the root (probably over 95%) is still there and I don't cut vertically into it. So it is still able to feed any nutrition to the tree from the feeding roots.
