    Any comments Vaughan or Mark?

As of last week, Covid deaths were falling, with fatalities in England and Wales now below the pre-pandemic average.

There have been almost no excess deaths above the typical five-year average from Omicron, in contrast to the previous two waves.

As an aside:- my wife and I have travelled extensively and assisted in many countries over the years. Unfortunately my wife was seriously affected by having the Yellow Fever vaccine and they have been unable to cure her of the side effects! So there is always a chance that a vaccine can have a deleterious effect on a person. If they choose not to take that chance then they should not be forced, by penalties, to do so.

I'm not an anti-vaxxer and probably had all three vaccines before most people on here but I have an objection to forcing people. My family have enough history of being forced to do things!

This is a simple statement and not intended as a start to a debate on the issue. As most of the longer term members know, I'm on here to enjoy myself and not to argue. There are plenty of places I can go to if I wish to do that! :noidea: :)

It seems very, very clear to me that there are a lot of people who are all too keen on 'consequences' for those who choose not to or cannot have the vaccine - it is like a cult to be honest. Indeed, people's 'fears' are wholly disregarded by those who want restrictions and consequences despite those fears being based on personal experience and data such as that from the Yellow Card Scheme (oh, and their own eyeballs) - as far as I am concerned, it is up to the individual to take the advice and data at their disposal and make their own decision whilst taking their own risks.

I live in hope that the current 'cancel culture' burns itself out and we regain our humour, humility and humanity, because bluntly I hate the world as it stands at the moment.

Just in case some may think that what happened to my wife was just a 'one off' - it took 20 years to correct the problem that the Smallpox vaccine caused me. :noidea:

I received an email from the NHS last week offering me Covid jab number 4. I immediately thought this was a scam, but a quick check proved it to be kosher if you are at risk. I needed a authorisation letter from my doctors practice, who knew nothing about it. I managed to get one from my consultant, and I am having my jab later this morning. The thing is I can't recall reading are hearing about a 4th jab, is anyone else in line for one?

Not heard of the 4th jab before Harry, I suppose it makes sense.

@HarryS ,I seem to remember hearing about this before Christmas.
Not looked back through the thread but I seem to remember saying somewhere along the line that I don't want one every 6 months.

I have had 3 injections and am due the 4th next week....this is called the booster for people who have had 3. Due to being immunocompromised. I also had to get the letter from consultant although it is more usual for GP to do this.....

Yes, I know of people in Nottingham area that were being asked to book #4 whilst they were there having #3, at a date 10 weeks down the line.

I see Novak Djokovic was on TV this morning giving his reasons for not being vaccinated.
I tend to agree with him that he has the right to refuse to be vaccinated.
He is even prepared to pretty much give up lots of tennis because of that principle.
He says he is not one of the anti vaccine bunch.

He has had covid twice, apparently and he is still as fit as ever so you can understand why he sees covid as no real threat to him.

I don't understand that explanation, maybe he is afraid of needles or has an allergic reaction which would make more sense. The fact he tried to lie his way into Australia doesn't back up his story. It's great he has earned enough money that he doesn't care a toss about infecting others or losing wages.
