Just in for cuppa as it's pouring down again. Had a hour out there so far but decided not to walk on the lawn to look for glass as it's too wet.
Opened up the greenhouse for all my poor battered babies to get some fresh air ( not that they really needed it after battling the elements when the glass broke:sad:)

Started to ( yet again ) clear up some leaves that seen to take refuge on our east patio. Will continue with this in a minute as the rain is easing now.

@Jocko does your ground not freeze in the winter? Just curious as even once the snow has melted, our ground is still frozen down to 12 to 18" depending on the winter.

@Upsydaisy I am envious. I would love to start populating the greenhouse but it is too early to start heating it. The last time I tried heating it at this time of year, it cost me an extra $200 for ONE month's gas on my heating bill :yikes:

Just finished leaf clearing in time as a hail shower and some pretty dark clouds have just arrived.

Tulips are all emerging in the pots now.:)

          Mine's unheated too Lori.
It's in a position that gets maximum sun, and in the winter we rig up an inner bubble wrap enclosure and then add layers of fleece to it if the temps tumble down really low ( by our standards that isl;))

Yes, mine is insulated with window film to create that air pocket. I did have greenhouse bubble wrap in it the time I heated it but it was just too cold to sustain. The sun does warm it up during the day but I would need to raise the temperature at night by some 15c to keep plants from freezing.

Those are interesting domes you have on your pots. Where did you find those?

sorry - should have read to the end of the thread! Got it. We don’t have greys here thankfully so no issue. We see reds occasionally but they seem pretty shy so it’s a rarity

The snow on the ground melted by lunchtime so this afternoon we went out and planted the Fremontodendron California Glory.

@ Lori: The ground doesn't freeze here. Not for many a long year. Being close to the sea helps considerably.

                          Rembrandt and Royal Bride.

Also potted up a cutting of one of our sons houseplants that I nabbed last October. It's been in water up until now and hasn't done anything....apart from seemingly not dying!
                          Leaves still looK green....for now!!:heehee:

Trimming, tidying up and watering a mix of seeds, seedlings and last year's cuttings out in the greenhouse. Hope to do a bit more seed sowing after our meal. Gorgeous day today  IMG_20220225_122947.jpg

Everything is coming along nicely Upsy. I actually did a bit of weeding of the pots in The Courtyard while T'other Half swept up. Then just sat soaking up the sun for 20 minutes.
