My Russian friend has two sons in their 20s. I haven't dared to ask if they are out there.

Army and military service are mandatory in Russia, so if you are in the age group, you can expect to be sent to fight. So very, very sad for everyone.

This forthcoming meeting at the border of Belarus looks decidedly fishy to me - I sincerely hope that the Ukrainians don't send anyone of too much strategic importance, if you follow my drift.

We can but live in hope that someone slips a novichok chaser into Putin's tea and bring all of this to an end.

I have just read (and listened to) about some of Russia's own medicine being used against them - Ukrainians have hacked a number of Russian banks to take their systems down, have removed or changed road signs to confuse troops on the ground and are blocking radio signals including the Russian Air Force frequencies.. playing the Ukrainian National Anthem over the top to block them. All non-lethal tactics which can only be applauded.

I remember a while back when that plane was forced down in Russia and that one passenger on it was taken away, not sure what the outcome of that was or whether he was ever heard of again.

But when a country does this kind of thing they deserve to be left on the outside of the rest of the world and totally alone until they get some kind of government that follows the rules.

I dont think anyone in Ukraine should go anywhere near Belarus to talk to Putin.

They can't bump Putin off as he'll be set on a pedestal and the nut juba will feel obligated to follow through these crazy plans. It would be very satisfying if his own people removed him from power however. Fingers crossed before he orders something atrocious

Couldn't agree more, when you consider he was a comedian with no political or military training. He may have won by a landslide but he still had his critics who said he would roll over and give the Ukraine away at the first sign of trouble.
He is fighting hard for his country and his people, can you imagine Boris on the front line?
Dare say there will be films made about Zelensky in the future.

Seems Putin is playing games, moving up more troops and armour at the same time as having peace talks.
He hopes that it will look that he has tried to stop the fighting but Ukraine didn't agree.
I just get the feeling they will go in really hard after this and the justification will be that he gave them a chance.

Russia has banned airlines from 36 countries from using its airspace in a tit-for-tat response to Western sanctions.

Liz Truss in UK Parliament - sanctions getting stronger - Putin won't have two pennies to rub together.

But Russia has raised their interest rate from 9.5% to 20% so clearly that is a sign that something is hitting below the belt. It is sad that the "everyday man" will suffer but that's just the way the mop flops when you live under a dictatorship.
