Pississitently  damp here since 10am.
It's one of those days when it looks like the end of the world is nigh.

We have had a light drizzle, now it's clearing up. Cooler at 6C no wind.

A dreichfest of dreichery in the land of the dreich, and coming home to a garden with more sog than a bog could handle where the crocuses and spring bulby things hang limp under leaden skies, barely mustering any will to open in the 5 degrees on offer. Guess that’s spring sprung again for another year and straight into autumn.

Good afternoon it won't be long until April;)

          Oh, to be in England
          Now that April's there,
          And whoever wakes in England
          Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
          In England - now!

And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossomed pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops - at the bent
          spray's edge -
That's the wise thrush; he sings each song
          twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
          The first fine careless rapture!
And though the fields look rough with hoary dew,
All will be gay when noontide wakes anew
The buttercups, the little children's dower
          - Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!

If it's any consolation, that's a pretty good description of SW France today, although we did hit a sweltering 8°C  There is the plant-shrivelling summer to look forward to, though ;)

Another sunny day here with a gentle breeze. Slightly cooler at 8C/46F

Could be set for the usual west-is-best, east-is-least spring and summer, Sheal. I look forward to the lowering of expectations with each glance of the 14-day forecast, as is the usual case.

I'm not in the west and not really east. If you hit 'Location' in my avatar box it will bring up a google map of my area. Beauly is the nearest town. The long range local forecast here is for mostly dry and sunny weather for the next fortnight.

Ah, that makes sense then, scenically, and climatically much better placed than us here in this protruding rear end into the North Sea. Yourselves and the Inverness area firmly dismissing any notion that the more north you go, the worse it gets. It really is nice up there. I’m always a couple of weeks behind on flowering etc from more southerly gardeners, looks like I’ll be similarly behind from more northerly as well. Always the last to get there…again..

I'm assuming you're around the Aberdeen area? It is a pretty good climate here. There's a good display of annual flowers in Beauly every year that are still blooming into October. :)

Have you thought about moving further north?

Sorry, Sheal. Got waylaid there. For all I moan about it, it’s not too bad here, entirely putupable. We don’t get the worst of the worst, or the best of the best, sort of mid-table and clear of relegation, but never vying for any honours. Moving, family rootings apart, would probably bring about regrets of some sort, fish, fog, windchill…
