Crime, particularly violent crime is vastly worse in the past ten years or so - some of that can be laid at the door of cuts to police numbers, but not all of it. There are migrants coming in who have very different values and standards to us, who equally have no intention of changing to fit into their new homes. This particular elephant has been in the room so long that there is no hope of it being addressed now.
They/we have been "treated so well" that indigenous Brits are projected to become a minority by 2066 if current trends continue. United Kingdom: White Britons will be a minority by 2066 if immigration continues in UK - The Economic Times Nick
I expect the truth that the UK is not what it was cracked up to be will come out soon enough so immigration won't be an issue!
Scotland has many thousands of East Europeans living here. We would welcome Ukrainians with open arms. Ceud mìle fàilte.
Poland are sending all of their MiG 29 jets to Germany to make them available to Ukraine Ukraine war: Poland offers all its MIG-29 fighter jets to US in plan to provide aircraft to Ukraine That, along with the oil and gas sanctions announced earlier are likely to light the touch paper I fear.
I'm still wondering what happened to the Ukraine airforce, I believe they must have had one to have pilots available to fly the new planes. My first thought were the planes were destroyed by the Russians in the first couple of days. Which if is the case, makes you wonder how long these ones will survive. Clever move sending them to a US base in Germany.
Not quite sure how the Ukrainian pilots are supposed to get to that air base to get them, or how they are supposed to be trained in their use? I do reckon that Putin will see this as NATO getting involved and will open all of us up to attack. If not already done, we need to dust off Trident and get our subs out around our interconnects
Well @pete the number that Jersey will take will definitely not accord to what I’d agree to - for sure. It’s a deeply conservative community of farmers and financiers - not massively ‘my people’, we could say… so I would be happy to be quite inconvenienced by a need to deal with an immigrant population but I recognise that isn’t everyone’s view and I’d not force my view on others. I’d encourage them though. My experience is that putting myself out for people who need it rewards me more than them… So yes - I’d be impacted (and I have been). And - I was an aid worker for many years - I am not worried about immigrants per se.
It is correlated to both, must as that fact is unpopular. We have buried our heads in the sand over cultural differences for decades, and continue to do so.
Someone with exclusively English/Welsh/Scottish/Northern Irish ancestry, or at least someone largely of that ancestry. Do you think the projected situation is acceptable and what is your own ancestry? Nick
When adjusted for poverty I do not believe that is true and the statistics we worked with when I was with the IRC in London did not support that assertion. As I say. Unpopular though that fact is.
Yep, including the exclusion of myself. How is that an issue? You know damn well what the term "largely" means Jimmy, don't play silly Leftist games with me. Nick
