An issue I see is that any warplane coming from bordering states will be viewed by Russia as invasion from 'the west'
Biden probably forgot all about it after he daundered out of the room... probably even forgot who he had just spoken to or why he was in the room for that matter.
I just wonder how much of this about aircraft from Poland was just an idea that was suggested. The media got wind of it and suddenly it was a done deal.
Or as is more likely, the Polish thought it would be a good idea as they don't want Russia advancing onto their patch, but then Biden's advisors realised that Poland's MiG's were likely to be wrecked and the US was effectively free insurance for that happening? I get the feeling that Biden is liable to agree to things in front of a camera and then get his arse kicked off-camera. Not saying he is senile, but he is senile.
Just listening to the humble crofter at pm questions. Poland has taken in 1.2million refugees and we have taken 750. Correction, 1.2 million have entered Poland and will be dispersed across Europe if that is what they want. I think the way our government is going about it is pretty slow, but then they never do anything fast.
The majority of Ukrainians don't want to stay here long term - they want to go home once this is over -- however, there is a very real risk that they won't have a home to go back to of course, so wherever they land they may have to set up home there. No issue with these folks coming here for me, other than where the hell are we supposed to put them? Hotels are already full of economic migrants and we have zero housing stock. I have said it time and again - this country needs to stop lobbing up high-rises and build homes - a proper mixture of homes with all the attached services; indeed, build new towns in fact.
I've not seen any new tower blocks, the so called "affordable" stuff appears to be mostly 3 storey, the kind where you cant work out what part belongs to which house door. And the rest seem to be 4 or 5 bedrooms. New towns, the developments are that big, just dont have any facilities, like doctors supermarkets or new roads. Not unusual to see a new development spring up down some narrow lane carved out of what used to be woodland.
Poland are making the UK look like a load of red faced numpties - running around bumping into things. Ukrainians are coming to the UK to stay with family - they already have somewhere to live and will have family to support them. I cringed when I saw the Ukrainian Ambassador explaining that refugees will not be a drain on UK resources - eg the NHS/schools - because they can work and pay for themselves. Someone needs to point out - this is not about economics - its about stopping people from being murdered by Putin.
I think the UK put in place new border controls and visa requirements which seem to have tripped them up almost straight away.
Round here it is wherever they can shoehorn them in. Take a look on Google streetview arounjd the likes of Ealing, Acton, Park Royal and so on - tower blocks galore
Yeah but round here its all about living in the beautiful countryside. While destroying it. There is no easy answer, just too many people.
