Wow, thank you for the in depth answer. Unfortunately, because we had problems with the delivery and one of the plants were affected, we had to take pictures as soon as we opened the parcel. I had two other pots with imperfections which I accepted without bother.

Good shout about the consumer act as it pertains to services and goods and will definitely have to use this. Its a good thing that we have this when dealing with companies, as the particular one I am dealing with will not budge on the pot being returned at my cost. They wouldn't even give a 10% discount when i asked. Really not that much. Albeit, I suppose the only way I can use the act in this case is when leaving a review. Don't see what other course of action I can take though as I payed with a debit card.

Even with paying by debit card (always better to pay by credit card) you can ask the card company to do a Chargeback. They're not legally bound to but most card companies do so.

I suppose it depends on how far you wish to push it whether you chase the seller. I never let them get away with anything! :paladin:

Did I understand correctly that the company is willing to swap the pot but not to pay for the return? If the goods is faulty they should pay the return but if they don't consider the bump a defect, they may not.

I recently bought some terracotta pots from Waitrose Garden, reported a tiny crack in the bottom and got a free replacement the day after. No need to return the faulty one.

In the same way, I have in more than one occasion received cracked pots or glassware from Amazon and they have just sent a replacement straight out, without even asking to see photos.

In these days that's the retail experience we expect so your case is definitely not meeting the standards. Try once more and share your story in the review section of their website and in Trustpilot.

By the way, absolutely lovely pots, bumps or no bumps. :)

Yes will have to make a claim. Thankyou for reminding me that this is still possible with current accounts.

Thanks, I really like them as well. Almost worth the issues with the retailer ;)

If they are not prepared to pay for the return postage plus rejected the discount, then my gut feeling is they have no intention of sending out a replacement. The 10% discount would probably be less than the cost of the return and sending out a replacement, unless the pot is very expensive.
