Yeah, I can see why he wants roubles but the fact they call it blackmail does seem a bit rich. I'm just wondering if the US has this bottomless pit of natural gas that is going to be required, and this is what is putting up the price, things dont look good for the future as far as I can see.
Joe does apparently have many more undrilled oil fields - where there are permits to pump - but the oil companies are not pumping. Did you see Joe on the tele. last night - saying - get pumping or you will have to pay a 'fee' - this extra pumping is how he is going to top up the US strategic oil reserves. So the US has barrels more oil. Not sure about gas - but assume the situation is the same there as well. It's all about time - to bash Putin - stop gap of fossil fuels from civilised countries - until sustainable power sources come on line. I suspect that the objections to fracking will soon fall away.
It was more the bit about turning it off if they don't pay in roubles when the signed contracts state euros which constituted blackmail. I think they're happy to pay in euros still although even that is a mixed message for me! Are Europe buying it still or not?
I find the whole situation ludicrous, after all that has been going on and all the wrangling, they are still buying the stuff and he is still supplying it. Its a joke really, I know both sides are benefiting but its not like anyone really means it, is it?
Russians have fled Chernobyl due to radiation poisoning and everyone made the same point Who'd have thought taking over the site of the worst nuclear disaster the world has ever seen and then digging themselves into trenches around it would be a bad idea?
They're either a bunch of drooling idiots or were terrified of being shot for disobedience if they didn't dig. Some of the best brains in the world have come from Russia but you wouldn't think it to see this horror unfold.
Makes me wonder how many in their army were actually ploughing fields a few weeks ago. Nothing against people who plough fields, but each to their own.
Nobody has mentioned about getting oil from Venezuela who have some of the biggest reserves in the world. The U.S. boycotted them some years ago and also stopped selling them chemical additives to make petrol. We could get oil from them if we really needed it (don't know what the U.S. would say about that!) but it's quite a distance to transport it. When we were in Venezuela some years ago the locals could buy petrol at 7p per gallon.
It's another country we're sanctioning so not sure we can? Having said that, bojo seems to do whatever he likes so always a possibility!
Adversity makes strange bedfellows. I presume Venezuela will soon be allowed back into the good guys club.
We don't appear to like Maduro very much either Minister pushing Venezuela regime change discussed its oil with petrol company
We are quite happy to buy all sort of garbage from China, including electric buses, so I really can't see why not.
Hurry up Boris - more and tougher sanctions now - Putin has got to suffer big time. The Russian ban of YouTube is apparently going into effect April 5. The world can clearly see what it going on Putin. Ever heard of VPN? This isn't the 1940's.
I doubt very much Putin will suffer ,he'll never be brought to justice for the war crimes being committed...he's holding the world to ransom and no one dare say BOO for fear of tipping him over the edge.
