I've been doing some potting on and repotting recently and for texture I think this is coming out pretty good, its fibrous and doesn't contain any really hard lumps
      It is around 40% peat.

We sent a pallet of JI out this week to a residential address way down in Kent, they emailed me to confirm delivery along with an attachment of the plants he grows in our JI.

Some very impressive alpines there, I have a mate who grows them but I doubt it was him,he lives in Headcorn.
He's probably hating the weather at the moment, far too warm.

You never know Pete. We have sent a number of pallets of JI down that way, they must be all members of the same Alpine society, word of mouth.

My mate said he gets compost from up your way some years, and he does belong to the local Kent alpine garden society, but that doesn't look like his greenhouse.
I think one member orders it then they distribute it amongst them selves.

That's the stuff I've used for seed sowing and for the small experiment comparing seedlings in that vs Westland peat free. So far there is no noticeable difference.

Across the fields from us is a farmer who has a recycle plant amongst the other vegetation he has contracts , he has a contract with the council all the green bin waste goes to his recycle plant .

When the wind is in our direction it isn't what you would call pleasant, luckily that's not very often but as you can imagine he gets a lot of complaints.

It's turned into compost it is quite common to see the large mountains of compost being ploughed into the fields .
This don't smell , it's in the making of it but it's only like our own composting areas.

One drop of washing up liquid solves the problem, but best not to let it dry out completely before watering.

I bought quite a bit of Jacks Majic and opened and used one bag in march for seed sowing and planting up of begonia corms and dhalia tubers and i was not impressed as i had to seive it as it was full of lumps, bits of hard root, wood and stones, I have just used another four bags of the same batch i bought and it could not have been different it is nice and light and crumbly, not one of the afore mentioned pieces of debris, it must have been a bad bag it the rest is really good, chalk and cheese. If i had only bought the one bag i would have put it down as rubbish compost and never bought it again. Just goes to show
