It is up to 30f -1f and really sunny. The guessers have told us the clouds will be moving in a bit later and it will be the prelude to a mostly rainy week. Better than snow :blue thumb:

      It's still cold.
When is it likely to warm up.
      Is this normal?

It is a little below "seasonal norms" but it is always a roller coaster until after Victoria day weekend (closest to May 24). This year seems much more frustrating than usual. We had one like this back about 8 years ago and it is again, a bit of a downer. So now you know why I can't participate in any threads featuring photos of gardens. Right now I've still pretty much just got dirt to look at out there!

Just an FYI: Over here on Queen Victoria Day weekend, there are lots of fireworks at night and we call it May 24 weekend because that was traditionally when camping season kicked off. Pack up the tent, grab a 24 case of beer and go and freeze your behind off at a provincial park! I don't think Vicky would be amused :heehee:

@CanadianLori ,it seems really strange to us over here that your winters appear to hang on so long, another month and you will be getting warmer than us.

It's the same in Finland, 1st of May (the traditional start of picnicking, student life, labour parades and whatnots) can see plus 20c or minus 5c in the south. Traditionally things are not planted in ground before June... but then it's a kabboosshh of high summer with non-stop daylight and if the winds are right, plus 25c and above until September.

As a foreigner, I observe that British summers are a bit more iffyish, with two consecutive days of sunshine called "a heatwave" and anything over 9c praised as "double digits". The climate explains the famous British lawns, they are not in danger of burning in normal years when rain can more or less be guaranteed to appear at least once a month. There are no great lawns in south or north, Britain has nailed the art.

One thing that interests me is the firm belief that local berries are always superior. The Finns explain it with the nightless nights that give that extra something to the flavour, the Italians give credit to the soil and the British just know their varieties are the best. Personally I think it's more to do with varieties that are bread to stand storage and transport in expense of flavour, so any local fruit is by default likely to be tastier.

But nightless nights get my vote too :)

I'm content with our weather, we have a bit of everything and variety is the spice of life.!!:heehee:.
I absolutely love our Spring and in general Summers aren't bad either. Autumn...hmmmm I wouldn't be too keen on that season wherever I was ...death and decay. Winter is needed for rest and restoring the batteries, and if it's a mild one like we've just had then that is fine by me.
All in all we have our climate to thank for providing us with such colourful landscapes/ gardens, we just don't appreciate it enough...we Brits love to moan about the weather!;)

This is all too true. Brits are the only ones who discuss weather so much. :heehee:

It is continuing to be very windy and is forecast to be so through tomorrow. Currently it is 12c only going to 21c.

Sunny intervals as the clouds roll by. It's a bit fresher today 10c heading to 15c later. The forecast is for some much needed rain this afternoon.
