Out of curiosity, how do you get to and from the car hire place? Do they normally have parking facility for you to leave your car?

We used to have one bus a week that came down our road, didn't stop but it came past us. That stopped years ago. The bus stop in the village is a mile away with an infrequent bus, if it bothers to turn up. Even when it does it doesn't go near a car hire place.

If we needed to hire a car to go on a long journey I think it would be difficult carrying our cases and the kitchen sink to the bus stop. :heehee:

I just checked and the nearest car hire place is at the airport. :rolleyespink:

      Ahh!!! :ideaIPB: :)

      Ohh!!!

I think I'll stick to my Rolls Royce and keep my chauffeur in a job - to help the economy, of course.

I've never hired a car, I even hate having to have mine serviced, it was ok when I was at work because I could get it done at unit next to ours but I need to find somewhere different now.
Which will mean, drop it off and come back later to pick it up.

I used Enterprise and they dropped the car off and on my return drove me home from the depot all at no cost.

Yes, they do offer this service at no extra cost, just as long as the drop off is within a set mile radius of their depot, otherwise a fee is charged. Personally, you will be paying a fee anyways, it will already be incorporated in the price. Just like when online stores offer free delivery, no such thing as free delivery, somebody has to pay and 10/10 times its the consumer.

I only had that problem once. It was when a job was being done on my car under warranty. The car hire company delivered the car to me and came to take it back a week later when my car had been returned from the main dealer. I got an unpleasant sounding phone call from the car hire company (Enterprise) asking me to pay the delivery charge and the mileage on the car. When I said 'No!' (quite emphatically :heehee:) they turned rather rude so I put the phone down on them.

Two days later I received a 'legal' letter threatening court action. I phoned them and said I would be happy to see them in court and would they be so kind as to send me a copy of any signed documents they may have from me. A few days later I got a call from their manager apologising to me as they couldn't find any such document. I was not surprised as the car was hired by the manufacturer of my car as it was covered under warranty :roflol:

I picked my leased EV up from a Tesco car park. I never met anyone, just followed the map on the car app to locate it within the car park. The app also unlocked it. I could have done the same when I handed it back, just left it at a drop off point but my wife would have to have followed me or use public transport to get home. I opted to pay them to send a driver to my home to collect, it was cheaper than the train/bus and saved me time.

As mentioned before, I have been contracting leasing for sometime. Most of the cars were never local with the Preston area being the nearest who I took out the contract with.

All cars were delivered between 7.30am and 8.00am, ample time for the driver to walk to our local train station. All cars but one were collected by the same method with the driver arriving by train with a early pm collection time. The one occasion a driver turned up with 3 colleagues, they had 3 cars to collect in our county so it made sense. I asked them who pays for this, the reply, me, it will be included in the monthly rental fee.

Something similar will be in place for daily rentals. Enterprise will drop off and collect within a 10 miles radius, that means another driver needs to follow to collect his colleague, the same will happen on collection. That could be 30 minutes plus each way that 2 drivers need to be paid. What annoys me, I would still have to pay the same rental fee for collecting and dropping off at the depot, no discount.

At least when I returned the car to their depot and they drove me home they only required one driver.
