Callistemon viminalis is a no go here being frost tender but so is Perth Pink. I have lost half of the developing buds due to a -3c frost.:frown:

A spindly looking Echium, might fill out a bit as the flowers form.

@longk sent me the seed a few years ago, full name V. foetida so as you can guess it pongs a bit when you brush by it.

                  Narrr, bit like dead rodents.:roflol:
There is a Passion flower, P. foetida, know as the goat passion flower, that smells of , guess what?

So if you find anything with foetida on the end you only plant it a long way away.:)

@pete I also got seed from longk, grew easily and quickly, self seeds and layers readily.
I can confirm the pong, but only if leaves/stems are bruised. Just about evergreen down here in Devon.
Iris foetida: British native with brownish flowers and bright orange "seeds" also known as the stinking gladwyn has a pong as well.

Hmmm..as soon as I saw the 'foetida' bit, it put me off  At least planting it anywhere near the house. Perhaps one for a far corner..... It's all subjective, though, isn't it? Some people can't stand Geranium macrorrhizum or Salvia turkestanica because of the smell....

It's been like that all day until now.
Some clouds have just come up but still pleasant enough.
