Everything in our garden is struggling for lack of water so the sprinkler is coming out today.

The restricted view from my computer. A couple of the lilac trees are just starting. There is a robin's nest and blackbird's nest in the ivy on the left and another robin looks likely to nest there as well. It's not unusual to have four nests there and it's very distracting whilst trying to work. :)

    A rather indignant look :rolleyespink:

We haven't yet spotted where the pheasants are nesting but this male usually has five females with him. Another male tends to have two and a third young male is on his own at the moment - all looking good :blue thumb:

We went on what should've been a lovely walk and this was one of many pretty signs of Spring we came across .

I 'm now paying for it as I've run out of my hay-fever medication and my eyes are really bad.

Wow @shiney I am very jealous of your blackbirds and robins nesting so close, must be lovely to see. How big of a space is the ivy on?
We have had blue tits looking in our nest boxes but I think they've found somewhere they like better unfortunately as I put out some of our dog's fur for them to use as nesting materials and I saw one flying off with a big beak full, wish I'd had the camera, looked very cute!

As you know I harvested Alstroemeria seeds from a bouquet. Experts say: 3 weeks in moist compost at room temp, then 3 weeks in the fridge, then
2-3 weeks at room temp to germinate. And to be prepared for dismal results. This is day 14 of the first stage. Weird seeing white cotylodons and startling to see anything at all!

@Sienna's Blossom they love fur don't they. I use to collect fur from my parents dogs ....it certainly didn't last long. We use to find old nests in the trees and shrubs all snuggly lined with the fur!

Its wonderful @shiney - I have some ivy in our new garden but if I had more space I'd cover a wall with it like that, so good for the wildlife.

We have a large Euonymous trained up some trellis, about 10ft long and 8ft high and the blackbirds always nest in it. :blue thumb: It's just where everyone walks past but it doesn't bother them at all. We quite often chat to the babies

A visitor to my garden was being a little bombastic to say the least about certain things I had said about gardening as evidently Monty Don did not advocate what I was saying on various subjects. I don’t watch Gardeners World as living in Scotland much of what is talked about is not particularly relevant so whether the visitor was correct or not, I am not sure. Anyway she was insistent that Rhododendrons should not be grown in full sun….I showed her these in FULL sun. This bed of Rhododendron have only just started to flower, there are hundreds of buds waiting to open! I rest my case:).
