Sowed some more flower seeds - cosmos, zinnia, tithonia and strawflower.

Potted up some plug plants I received in the post. They were tiny so hopefully they manage to grow on well.

Weeding, mowing, watering, all the usual  Slightly more unusual was 'supervising' (from a safe distance) the removal of a swarm of honey bees that had decided to settle on a low border shrub :hate-shocked: As if I haven't got enough buzzy, stingy things already!
Then, finished my latest DIY, sisters are doin' it for themselves, project. Coping and pointing on a low wall . That's been outstanding for 12 years :mute:

More weeding in the corner and cut back a bit of the currant bushes to get to it, got a lot of wild garlic growing there as well.

Cut the Grass and put the Grass cuttings in the top of the Potato Bags, does anyone else do this? I'm sure this must help, but ha, what do I know:old:

@john558 yes if they've come through you can earth the potatoes up with grass clippings.

I only use grass cuttings to cover potatoes if there is a frosty night, other than that they go in the compost bin.

I hope you mix your grass cutting up with other plant waste as by themselves they form a hard compact layer that starves the heap of water & air & in the end just makes a terrible mess!

(I had to sort out a couple of enormous compost bins last year at a MS centre where I am a volunteer gardener. The people who cut the grass just dumped it all in the bins & it took me a good deal of effort to empty them out & sort them out!)
                    .

I've decided to make a statement for the 2022 'battle of the hanging baskets'. I'll only be using two colours of Surfinia - yellow and blue.

Apart from getting the hose out and helping the boss water the garden I have done nothing today. She also tidied up, did some deadheading and planted out some Creeping Phlox for me. In return, I ordered up some more plants for her!
Mind you, while the hose was out I did wash the car.

I used, many years ago, to have a heap for grass cuttings only.
After a year you get a slimy mass that you can cut out in lumps.
Pongs a bit as well, but I used to top dress my indoor cucumbers with it, then water it in.

Best cucumbers of all time.

I've been feeling like that today but I've made a start ! and repotted some herbs many Fuchsia cuttings, offshoots of Billbergia nutans, and planted some Dahlias in pots.
I forgot to put the labels back after repotting the Fuchsia cuttings so I don't know which is which :heehee: ... but I'll know when they flower.
                              Many more to do :rolleyespink:
