When we lived in Italy, this is what "everyone" drank:

It's the best thing ever, a three-cup pot makes half a mug that can be topped up with hot milk for latte, boiling water for americano, or grappa for a truly inspirational start of a Sunday morning.

Unfortunately my enthusiastic approach to kitchening prevents me from having hot metal objects nearby so Douwe Egberts it is nowadays. Honestly, my arms are so full of old and new burn marks that when I wear a Tshirt passer bys tend to lower their voice and gently ask if I'm all right. The skin graft on my left arm is a near- accurate replica of the map of Syria which might come in handy some day. :noidea:

@Selleri I have a couple of those espresso makers. A small one for single and a larger one for up to 4. I haven't used it in ages. I guess I got lazy.

I have a Sage bean to cup machine, the barista express. Works quite well for me.
On the coffee age questions earlier, it's less about the coffee going off than the oils drying out. I keep any unused beans in the freezer which is supposed to keep them better and longer than in the cupboard.
Beans sourced from local roastery and no waste plastic etc with the pods

I find that the best coffee maker I own is my percolator. I only use it when I have company because I cannot drink 12 cups of coffee. It only takes about 10 minutes to brew a pot.

Yes, @noisette47 Lavazza is the brand of Espresso that I use when I making those makers. I like the little cups and saucers. Almost makes me feel like I'm at a kid's tea party! I don't normally use sugar in my coffee but I do have some vanilla sugar that I use in my espresso sometimes and also I have the hand milk frother.

Got hold of some Americano pods today, they do taste a bit more like the real thing.

The flavoured hot drinks are just instant powder but when I open the coffee pods, it is ground coffee inside not instant. Are you sure that is what yours is? These coffee pods are just mini versions of a drip coffee maker baskets.

Yes Lori the pods I have now are ground coffee unlike the first ones I bought.
I just didn't realise that the others were powder.

I have the brand name pods for when company is here but for myself, I fill reusable pods with my own coffee. Said coffee usually when they have a brand I like on special offer. It only takes a few minutes to fill several of them.

I was looking at reusable pods yesterday, some were stainless steel and pretty expensive.
I did spot some plastic ones also, might be worth a go.
