I'm actually quite concerned that Russia may finally declare war on 9th of May (the "Victory Day"). That in practise would mean moving into wartime legislation and enlisting any eligible man.

Having friends, colleagues and remote family in there brings it very close.

I never thought that a colleague I have just been chatting with over a Teams call may be forced to join a war any day now. The thought of an attacking war in Europe has seemed distant.

There seems to be something seriously wrong with Putin if even the official Russian channels show him in an apparently compromised state of health. A cornered animal is dangerous, and a cornered, sick animal is very dangerous indeed.

A friend of mine was a storeman on a battleship during the Korean war. Every shell that was used was written up in a log. One 16-inch shell had "Man on bicycle" written beside it. Turns out that after they flattened the target a man tried to escape on a bicycle, so they lobbed a 16-inch shell at him.

        1. The EU remains unable to agree on ending supplies of Russian oil and gas, Germany's economy minister says. Ministers are discussing an embargo on Russian oil, but Hungary has made it clear it will block consensus.
Then each Country must act alone - do what it can - the stakes are too high.

This is where the EU just does not work, why should all members have to fall in line over an issue such as this.
It should be up to all members to take the action that they feel is right.

So do we get a situation where Hungry vetoes it, so it's okay for the rest to carry on using it?

            It wouldn't surprise me.
The whole world is so wrapped up in one another these days you can't get away from any one.
Which points out we will never get cheap energy, even if we covered the whole country in wind mills, solar panels and nuclear power stations.

The price will always be dictated by world prices.

I have to give the EU another cheeky thumbs up this morning :blue thumb:.

Russian crude oil imports to be banned within 6 months and other oil products by the end of 2022.

They are also deleting the SWIFT accounts of the remaining Russian banks - including the largest.

Need to sort out Russian gas now.

Apparently Putin is delving into his war chest to pay peoples pensions - bye bye Putin - your place has been secured down stairs - you won't need any fossil fuels to keep warm when you get there.

A Ukrainian Priest said that Putin is "the Devil in human form". I have to agree.

I see that Putin has accused the West of threatening to use nukes and invading Russia.

This parade of his - the Soviet Union helped to win WW2 - not Russia. In this respect he is turning on one of this own.

                  The worst of mankind.

A tactical nuke in Red Square during the march past would have taken out Putin, most of his generals and all his NEW equipment.

I think that him upstairs has plans for Putin. Did you see Putin shaking like 'Shakin' Stevens' when he was meeting Lukashenko? Let's just say 'This ol' house' wasn't playing in the background.

If you see Putin on the TV - he is always holding the side of the table - so that no one can see him shaking. He's going down with something - does Novichok poisoning make you shake?

If they were to get rid of him we would never know what happened to him, he would just go on holiday and never return.
Apparently Siberia is quite nice this time of year.
