Many Many little UFO( inclassified flying object)

Hi everyone



I find that there are many UFO in my garden, even at noon when the sun is bright. Can anyone tell me what are these and how to solve the problem? I have attached the video gif I just took.



My lawn has some drainage problems and going to fix them with a French drainage project.Also part of my hedge also is suffering from the V beetle problem. Are they related to the tiny UFO ?

Unfortunately the video is way too small to make much out other than the odd flash of light.
As Viburnum beetles are about 5 mm long I think you would have seen them. Beetles tend not to fly around in swarms mainly flying to find food or a mate.
At a guess I would say that they are gnats or midges which cheerfully dance in the sun all day.
There isn't much you can do about them they come and go with the weather, improving the lawn drainage may help but not necessarily.
Why are they a problem to you?

They always fly near the window and make my wife dare to open it.
I'm just wonder why my neighbour's garden don't have so many flies

 

Look like just Gnats to me, dont usually take much notice of them.

 

They are very unlikely to come in through an open window.
Your neighbours garden may have more less shade, may be that bit drier then yours.
I always have swarms of them in the evening sun between a couple of cupressus trees.

 

I find that my Drosera capensis plants catch a lot of them.
