Yes it will be maybe 3 weeks before you start seeing flowers, hopefully you have a sunny sheltered spot for it? In theory there should be enough nutrients in fresh compost for a few weeks, but this year all my seedlings looked yellowy (using peat free compost for the first time) so I feed with dilute Miracle-Gro - but any general purpose feed will do. I wouldn't use tomato fertilizer until the first flowers appear.

My back garden gets the sun all day when she's shining brightly so I would move here out when that is the case. Overcast days and I keep her in the greenhouse for the temperature and humidity. I will wait for the first flowers before feeding then. Thank you :)

It's because of Covid! We had to cancel our open garden event in 2020 and 2021. The one in 2020 I had a lot of forward orders for them so people still came round for them. I was able to put them by the front door for when they were turning up and they put the money in the charity box I had there. A similar thing happened in 2021 as well but most of the Indian restaurants/takeaways that had been buying Naga chillies from me (for staff use only) didn't order any so I didn't grow Nagas this year.

A lot of the people that bought the ShineyHybrids were not in touch with me so I concentrated on other things and planted them late. It was then I got some orders! So I'm reserving the few spare ones I have for them. There are bound to be people phoning up at the last minute.

I've still been growing almost as many runner beans as usual because they have always been ordered in advance and we were always able to sell any, on open day, that were left over. I ordered 750 beans this year and almost all are now gone.

I won't say all my seedlings look yellow, but distinctly slower and a green courgette plant looked more yellow than green next to some other plants in the garden, so I've begun using miracle gro and sea weed.

I had yellow seedlings that stalled growing in100% peat compost.
I dont think it has anything to do with what the compost is made of its more about how much fertiliser they add.

They are probably adding less because or the war in Ukraine.
