Thee hee, that's just my foreigner approach to interpreting the weather. The Local Natives would formulate it along the lines of "it looks like it might brighten up later on" and when the 20 minutes of glorious sunshine finally arrives (in November? ) they smile at me smugly and tell me they told me so. :heehee:

The rain (aka "lookslikeitmightbebrighteninguplateron") is doing a world of good after a dry spring, the fields and the woods are lush and the scent of wet summer earth is lovely. :)

I got the hose out this morning and spent an hour giving the whole garden a thorough soaking. When I was weeding yesterday some parts were like a desert.
In the afternoon I planted out a tray of English Wallflower then interspersed between them I planted Siberia Wallflower (Cheiranthus Allionii). I also planted three Lavender "Hidcote" and a Delphinium "Blue and White Bee" in my bit of garden.

"Book and wine" plan was interrupted by a break in the rain so I cleared the pond. To phrase it decently, I celebrated urban biodiversity very much indeed :yikes:

Hacked off bits of the old Rosemary and learnt that Rosemary does in fact sprout from old wood. Took cuttings to ensure we will not run out even if we get a bit wild with focaccia.

It's about to rain again so no more playing out this weekend. Hello long next one! :)

Not much chance of running out of rosemary with that lot!
I bought a trailing rosemary recently. The label must have got mixed up as it's more vertical than a flagpole!

Today I got the short hose out and tried the Miracle-Gro spray gun on my bit of garden. It seemed to work well but certainly uses a lot of Miracle-Gro. 500 gms at a filling.

Mowing, edging, finished weaving the top of the second ShineyFrame and put up the pigeon deterrent. Planted out some courgettes and squash, made some grow bags for tomatoes, planted them and placed on the patio, some weeding, fought of some angry red ants, cut back overhanging branches on trees and then failed to unkink my back. I could only just reach up to the painkillers and and having difficulty sitting. Hopefully will manage to sit down and have some dinner - when it's finished cooking. :)

I feel for you. We are our own worst enemies. We do a full day's work and then wonder why our bodies renege. Most mornings I stand up at the side of the bed and then spend thirty seconds trying to get my legs moving. But instead of getting back into bed I go out and labour all day as if I was twenty again. Mind you, that's not quite right. At twenty I would have just got back in bed!

I've been in and out dodging the rain, a bit of weeding, squidged another couple of lily beetle, just cut the first of my sweet pea flowers (they smell beautiful) then just watered my 10 week stock (first time I've grown stock) and sprayed the pink osteospermum cuttings I've got for my neighbour, did them 11 days ago and they're looking healthy.

Due to intermittent rain showers, & now thunder!, I haven't been able to get out onto the balcony today! Yesterday I did put some variegated Geranium cutting that had rooted very well into the 3 small troughs on the middle bar of the balcony railings.

Raining today but we had some Aubretia and Dianthus plants delivered so I went out to the potting shed and potted them up in a couple of planters until we are ready to plant them in their final positions.
