Hi @strongylodon we bought one of these in April and are new to looking after these, the striking leaves have come off in the heavy rain we have had and are now bare, is this the best time to deadhead? If so where should I take them off?

          Thanks

I have never heard of a Water Forget-Me-Not. All your flowers are very delicate coloured.

@Robert Hennessey Callistemons are normally cut back immediately after flowering (just behind the dead flowers) but as yours is quite small I would leave it for this year. Depending on the variety, some are not fully hardy.
If this was in bud or flower when you bought it then I suspect it was an import and forced into flowering early for Garden Centre sales.

Looks good Victoria. I regret apart from my Roses out the front and my mock orange in the back garden not a lot to shout about as I am so disabled now. My eyesight is appalling now too having had eye ops to remove cataracts. Still mosey on as best I can. Good job I am touch typist trained! I feel instantly if I have gone wrong. Oh Lord having said that please God that I haven't. Hope you are all well. God bless. :)

Yes it was in bud when we bought it, I will cover it when it's coming to the end of the season and mulch the base to protect, I didn't want to do anything unnecessary and ruin the plant so I will take your advice and leave them on and presumably deadhead in April next year.

Seems a lot of us are creeping into decrepitition (I think I've invented a new word there:heehee:) let's mosey on together, let's enjoy what we can while we can, i never cease to get so much joy out of every little plant i grow particularly the ones I tend to neglect which seems to be growing:heehee:

Hello cute cat.jpeg @moyra How lovely to hear from you. I am sorry to hear you are not progressing even after having your cataracts done. Folk have been asking after you in the Wakey, Wakey thread and I will copy your note over to there.

Enjoy your roses and mock orange while you can and keep in touch.

@Flumpy , I think @moyra said in her post that she's had the ops and unfortunately it didn't seem to have worked for her.

The neighbours next to me planted one of these years ago, and when they moved the new people were not gardeners and didn't want it.
Neither did they do any other than cut it down and mow over it all summer.
Must have been a good 10 years before it gave up the ghost and died.
