Yes. Seven plants in all, all shapes and sizes. It's worse at the front of the greenhouse. Santorini was badly hit but seems to be recovering.

Happily, the 2005 Gardener's Delight I gave her is outdoors, so not affected. :blue thumb:

Well I think they grow all year round but it's like all things these days the fruit has to be unblemished.

I remember many years ago seeing fields of tomatoes in Italy and California, but I assume they were used for canning or ketchup.

They all seem to have shading up.
Thanet Earth is also visible from space.

Greenhouse Toms, Sungold, Gardeners Delight and four pots of small plum from seed saved from Lidls. Thought I would see if they would have better flavour than theirs.

@NigelJ Thanks for that. I had never heard of Thanet earth. An altogether different proposition to the sweathouses of almeria. I do remember reading about some greenhouses in Sussex using CO2 recycling and eco-initiatives for power and growing. All very interesting! Now, if they'd only stop wrapping the stuff up in plastic....

British Sugar use waste heat from it's plants to heat greenhouses used to grow tomatoes, just discovered they are now growing cannabis in them.

If you head to the Thanet towns, Ramsgate, Margate & Broadstairs you will notice the light pollution from Thanet Earth from miles away.

From what I understand most if not all the produce is not available locally, but is trucked to London.

It's sometimes available in Morrisons, but that would probably be via London.
It's too large an operation to be selling to the local green grocer.

Afternoon everyone....even though the plants are suffering in these high temperatures, the fruits are coming thick and fast and ripening nicely.

@Sheps They are looking really good and a nice early harvest by the looks of it. I particularly like the one with a coin slot... :-)

Thanks @SunnyGin a small bribe to persuade it to ripen.
