The CEO was out before 08:00 planting a Euonymus Europaeus "Red Cascade" that arrived yesterday. I then planted two Rosa rugosa "Alba" in the hedge. I had to chop an opening at the bottom of the hedge using the hedge trimmer and then clear out a space using heavy-duty secateurs. I then dug a hole as near the hedge centre line as stems would allow cutting out the fine roots as I went. I then carefully planted the rose (about 1,000 thorns to a foot of stem!) and then gave it a good watering. The same again for the next rose. We will continue watering them for a time yet.
No sooner did we pop in for coffee than the courier delivered a Buddleja globosa we were expecting so it was back out and planted that.
We were walking up and down the shrubbery trying to decide what was what. You see, when we planted stuff the boss insisted I remove labels, "in case someone spots they are new plants and steals them". Well, they were not stolen, but until they flower we have no idea what they are. Needless to say, we now stick the label in the ground beside new plantings.

@Upsydaisy, I was going to say the same as Michael until I looked at the photo & saw the ladder was tied up well!

Woke up early and poked loads of dwarf borlotto beans into a sunny flower bed whenever I found a space. Rain is forecast so that should give them a good soak.

I've been out and about the garden this evening , trying to plant out the dahlias . Found a spot for some david howard dahlias where some nepeta Gov have failed , low and behold after tip toeing all the way over there they returned I am not sure if I am happy or annoyed that it ruined my plan I thought about for half an hour :noidea: . Oh well I did get them planted eventually and two barrels planted up with dahlias / bananna etc . Slugs have demolished my agastache blue fortune but I think I can recover them so potted them up and planted a large dahlia in its place I suppose more cannon fodder for the slugs  . It were 10pm before I wondered back inside for a brew , I try again tomorrow to get things planted out.

I am stumped on two pots by the front door I do fancy so canna's but I have bought another hedgetrimmer and the bank account is looking very depleted :hate-shocked: and I want some salvias as well  ;)

I may try sorting through the junk in my garage that came from an old demolished shed last week.
Or I may change my mind and do something else ! but it's not going to be outside jobs in the wet weather.

Yes I'm still debating what to do , weather is cloudy but dry so its perfect.
I was over zealous with my Dahlia sowing this year and still have..6...I think in containers. They are fine there but I would prefer to get them in the borders, so probably a day of wandering around the garden in search of a space...or 6!!

Took delivery of four more Rosa rugosa so we planted them in the hedge. Cutting alcoves in the hedge was hard going. The outside has been cut hard back, but there is an old wire fence there, so I had to go in from the uncut inside. Nibbling all the fine bird's nest of branches away with secateurs is a pain.

And don't I know it. Tell my CEO. Every time she sees something pretty she orders it. Then when it arrives the first question I get asked is "Where are we going to put it?".
