WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2022

Our garden is suffering badly too @shiney We have a couple of big shrubs ( name??) that we've had for years that suddenly both collapsed the other day. We've now cut them right down to the ground and are keeping everything crossed....if not then we will have to dig their rootballs out later.
We have cracks going down to Australia in the clay borders too.!

 

Gosh...good luck. As I post we are having a very welcomed short,sharp downpour!!

It's not a pretty sight!!!
The rain has stopped now, didn't penetrate the surface. Oh well better than nothing at least it topped up the butts.

 

After the rubbish Tomatoes (at the moment) I thought I would empty one of the Potato bags. Well pleased with the results, enough for 3 meals for the 3 of us.

 

Patio sprucing this morning, we just use the wire brush on them after a downpour( only use a tiny squirt of chemical if really needed).
We don't want it pristine looking we prefer to see it's age and wear and tear....just like ourselves !!

 

First of the 3 patios ( kitchen) done ....looking much better . We've had a couple of downpours so took full advantage of them....we always do this as it makes it so much easier.

What!!. No way Vicky your courtyard / patios are always spotless!

Hmmm...on the other hand I could suffer and put up with the hardship that would entail and pop over, the work might take me ......hmmm... a month!!!!

 

We went out this morning to transfer the Daffodil and Tulip bulbs from the containers they were in, into the garden. I then spread the used compost over the flowerbads. We were just about finished when the rain started so we just kept going.
After lunch, the half arch we were waiting on arrived so we assembled it. The instructions were printed in Chinese so it was a case of suck it and see. No sooner was it built, screwed to the wall and all the tools and ladders away when the heavens opened up again.

 

See, the problem is the Jacaranda petals constantly fall, and the Bougainvilla by the house is denuded now, then the spray water comes on at 11.30pm and bakes the petals to the tiles.

 

Hmmm...2 months then.

 

Today we took delivery of another Clematis. This one is Clematis “Rooguchi”. We planted it beside one of our climbing roses, hoping they will climb together over our new half arch.
We have a rose which is spreading out over the drive. I believe it is Rose Patricia Kent. This morning I had to put canes in and tie it in to them. It is taller than the climber beside it. A lovely rose in the wrong place.
