    Hi there
I have a quick question about my spuds. They have become extremely unruly. If I cut down the tops will the potatoes continue to grow?

They do tend to flop over, my early ones in containers I have used canes in each corner with string to hold them up. At the allotment I just let them do their own thing as there is more space.

Thanks all, yes they're about 4ft tall and most have flopped with some covering about a third of my onions. I'll leave for this year but definitely stake next year. Thsnjs

I would try and move them off the onions as they will not like the shading. How long before you dig them?

Well we've had a few already but yes the onions will suffer. I'll try to have a tidy up but it's such a mess!

What variety @Jowo ? My Winston first earlies have got big enough now and I can see the top growth is starting to yellow, I could get away with topping mine as they will be jacket sized soon.

                  Good question!
I think they're Maris Pipers and Albert Bartletts; They were supposed to be main crop but they're pretty good now! The bottom growth on a lot of the plants has yellowed with brown spots so I think may have some disease? Ive removed the affected leaves but maybe this is why they have gone a bit array this year

Sorry for the late reply, yes both are maincrop so it's a bit early to take the tops off. If you are happy with the size you could remove the tops of the ones flopping over on top of the onions.
