Hi, I have a snake bark tree sapling, which I have raised from seed, moved house twice with it in a large pot, so I’m quite attached. It’s just over a metre tall.

When I recently had my outside space landscaped, it was time to find its permanent home and I looked forward to seeing it spread its wings and grow really well.

As a favour to me, the landscapers offered to plant it for me, it took them nearly an hour trying to free it from the pot, as there was a narrowing of the profile near the bottom. In the end, we had to make do with whatever roots had been freed, and it was planted. At that point, there were many young green leaves unfurling and I watched them carefully whilst watering profusely.

However, over the last two and a bit months, I have watched them stop unfurling, drying up and falling off. There has been small new leaves coming out of the joints from tiny green buds, but they are now giving up.

Do I cut my losses or persevere ? I have a mind to leave it for this season, let it gather strength over winter and hope next spring to see a recovery !

What do you think ? DDCC63F2-9BF5-4A7C-B3A8-C27F3C6E42C7.jpeg

Never grown one but my thoughts are if it's had roots cut off then maybe it's stressed at the moment, personally I'd give it a chance to recover and see how it goes next spring , just make sure it doesn't dry out but don't let it get waterlogged.

Who knows, I'd give it a chance but I think it might be dying.

it’s definitely dead! Haven’t the heart to pull it up, so now it has a couple of pattern lights hanging off it, looks pretty at night! It’s also had bits of bird food on it this winter, so I don’t mind so much now ! IMG_2586.jpeg
