So envious, don't think I'll ever see one let alone more.

I've been finding it very difficult to do much in the garden as we have hardly had any rain for three months. Most of the plants are suffering badly and we water where we can. The sprinkler is being used to keep the veggies going and also put on the beds (don't usually do that) where the plants are in distress.

The first of our Annabelle Hydrangeas is now in flower but is about 2ft shorter than normal and each flower is less then two thirds its normal size. I have the hose in at the bottom of it right now :noidea: as the leaves are drooping.

We're spending two hours a day watering, by hose, the greenhouse, patio pots, areas undercover and nursery areas - although those would take over half that time even if it rained.

The weeds don't seem to be bothered by lack of rain! I removed three 30 litres buckets of bindweed yesterday and only stopped because my back told me to.

The up side is that I haven't had to mow for three weeks - except that I've now cut down most of the wild area that was thigh high (don't usually do that until August) and run the mower over it. I've just left the orchids but all the other wild flowers have seeded already.

I shall have to run the mower over the lawns on Thursday (even if they don't really need it) as we have a flower arranging club using the garden for their annual cheese and wine. We provide the space, tables and chairs and they do all the rest. :)

Thank you, but a day off didn't materialise. The CEO decided that she had planted a couple of Peonies in less than ideal positions so she asked if I would dig a couple of holes in the shrubbery for her so she could move them. When I dug the holes I disturbed some bulbs, so we had to re-site them. Then once we planted the Peonies we had to water them and while the watering can was out.................

Picked a lot of blackcurrants, Loganberries, raspberries and blueberries.
Sowed some foxgloves called Sutton's Apricot.

Happy birthday @Jocko ! :yay: I hope the CEO will allow you to put your feet up for a moment tonight... then again, that's gardening. You pop out just to snip off a small branch, turn around to see something else that needs a snip, turn around to see a patch that just needs a tiny bit of digging, wander into the shed to get the fork, notice the box of fertiliser, remember the hedge and hey ho, that's 8 hours of solid work done.

My Sunday has been spent just watching the Dunnocks, the parents decided to bring the fluffy offspring for their feeding lessons just outside the back door. The youngsters have beaks half the size of their bodies, bright orange inside and opening like barn doors. Adorable :wub2:

Also ordered Typha Minima and some Frogbits for my pond. The previous Frogbits were dutifully cleared out with the bottom silt before I remembered them so a new round is called for.

In the grey overcast morning we spent an hour deadheading, tidying, sweeping, etc. I cut the Salvia farinacea in half and massacred some of the Geraniums/Pelargoniums. late afternoon we sat out for two hours and admired our tidiness and took a coupe of photos.

Something happened in the 1980s and people started going to the "beach" instead of the coast or the seaside.
