This morning, for the first time in a least a month, I've been able to wind the string around one of the sideshoots that is taking the place of the main shoot. The rest of the plants are not so far advanced as yet to be able to do the same with them. I also saw my very first pea size tom this morning! :) Due to the wilting & cease of growth for the last month or so this is quite an achievement! :) While I was at it I checked the compost in the growbags but they are all fine & didn't need any watering today. Tomorrow I shall give them some water, with some general fertilizer added. It seems to be making a difference. I last fertilized them on Tuesday so I think a repeat dose shouldn't do them any harm, especially as I expect the warm (HOT???) weather of this coming week to stimulate growth &, hopefully, flowers.

I would give them a high potash fertiliser @Balc, now you have fruit that will stimulate more flowers.

@JWK It's too soon, I only have ONE tiny pea size tom at present & hardly any flowers. If I start using a tomato fertilizer now then I won't see any more growth - or at least, very little. No, the GF is the best option for the time being.

Any ideas? It was rotten where the stem joins the fruit. Not had that before as far as i can remember. IMG_20220708_164425525_HDR.jpg

Kind of thing you often see at the end of season.
When its damp and botrytis is around.

Could be water pooling on the fruit causing mould.

So the heat and lack of support has taken its first victims. I need to be using more "S" shaped plastic supports for some of the fruit branches. That will be tonight's job.

The casualties are the green ones, now to ripen them off vine:

Could well be this if i inadvertantly splashed a bit of water on it, it is quite indented at the top

Regarding the limp growing point that appears to be a problem for some.
Today I have noticed similar problems on a couple of plants that are totally unrelated.
It's as if this happened a couple of weeks ago, but it's a mystery to me what could have caused it.

Not sure if mine are going the same way.

                        Or is this normal?

                          Sheps,
A quick question. If you were to get a cocktail stick, could you lift the dark membrane up from the surface of the tomato or does the dark patch actually extend into the body of the tomato?

                          Regards

@Ademission a cocktail stick will not lift the membrane, though a quick Google search shows lots of perfectly good Beef toms with the same membrane.

I guess it's fairly normal then. Sounds like there's nothing to worry about.

@Ademission I keep telling myself that, but time will tell.

I have another Beef tomato plant that doesn't have the same membrane, so maybe a variety specific trait.
