My Westringia glabra 'Deep Purple' Australian Coastal Rosemary suddenly bursts into bloom and can bloom at any time of the year. I have had it many years and it stays compact with a light trim. I plan to underplant it with a pinky peach Salvia microphylla I have taken cuttings of and rooting in water.




My Alstroemeria 'Inticancha Bryce' (I thought it was Indian Summer but have looked at my receipt) has a stem with three blooms ...

That is a pot of Tradescantia 'Blushing Bride' next to her which has gone totally green but we like it anyway.

 

Ha, ha, I was so busy with the pic of Munchkin, I forgot to put the whole picture up showing the lovely draping Tecoma stans (Ginger Thomas) and Oleander in a pot blooming ...

 

My first native Primrose grown from seed.

 

No way! Though during the summer the sun doesn't enter more than a little through the door, in the winter the sun goes completely across the living room, only being stopped by the wall at the end!

At this time of the year the height of the sun in the sky stops it from coming in through the windows but the bright light still gets in even when the strings are full of Morning Glories! There aren't any this year as the seeds failed to germinate, I've planted climbing Nasturtiums in their place.

On the other hand the kitchen gets the full blast of the sun & can get up to nearly 30C!!! Both the living room (where the balcony is) & the kitchen are side by side, only the living room is recessed for the balcony, but that side of our flat faces SSW so we get all the available sun entering in the balcony from about 11am till the sun goes down.

 

Our block of flats is 4 apartments set in a square, with one flat on each of the 4 sides. The block is between 6 & 7 floors high with a total number of 25 flats. The entrance door to the block is set right in the middle of the front side, where we are. We are not therefore in an end apartment as all four flats on each floor are on the "end".

Acountium Stainless Steel has grown enormous this year over 7ft , I've never had to stake it but I've lost a few stems to the winds early this week.

Pots all that all done now

My idea of mixing salvia amethyst and Salvia . v . smouldering torches has failed ( in a way still looks nice ) I was under the impression S.V . T was a deeper purple , it more a less blends in with Amethyst .

 

Absolutely stunning @Perki ,, you certainly put a lot of thought into your planting schemes and have a fab eye for colour co-ordination.

I'm ashamed to admit that despite setting out with good intentions I usually end up desperately searching for any available space that's going vacant.

How long have you had the Asclepias tuberosa @mazambo . I've got some myself grown from seed last year , I believe they can take their time to flower .

 

I think i had them in 2019, they got shoved behind the pergola and forgotten about, I've got them in a sunny spot now and repotted, the top right of the tuberosa is another plant with a lot more stems.

 

After the last discussion we had on another thread I moved mine into our ( very hot) greenhouse and cut down on the watering and they have really put on a growth spurt. Even the sickly one looks healthy now too.

 

Not quite as good as it will get but i absolutely love the Echinops bannaticus The Giant, about 6 ft 6 high and the same across, in a space 9ft square this year is it's last hurrah, my neighbour is taking it in the autumn.

 

Talking of which @Upsydaisy...mine are still only three inches tall but still look healthy. I'm wondering if they would grow better in garden soil instead of compost, knowing they are plants that like dry ground?
