What's this rich man Rishi doing in the running for the next PM?

Wasn't he one of the convicted criminals that broke the law and was fined for partying at no 10.;)

Oh yeah, give him the job and give Labour a field day. :roflol:

So last week Labour was slagging off the Tories for having the highest taxes since the 70s.
Now we have the elections for a new PM, and all but one candidate wants to cut taxes.
So the Labour line now is they are all wanting to cut taxes at a time when we can't afford it.
      They are all idiots.

Ha! At least you didn't get caught in your jammies by the Google maps vehicle!!

I had to get some big bags of soil out of the van before loading up some stuff for today's installation and thought it wise to do it in my jammies as they would go in the wash when I went in for my shower.

And then I see this SUV coming around the corner with a big arrow on it's roof and a spinning camera with flashing yellow lights.

Hope I got behind my van before it got in front of my house

            No. They're politicians.

All politicians have their noses in the trough.

Members of the House of Lords are not salaried. They can opt to receive a £323 per day attendance allowance, plus travel expenses and subsidised restaurant facilities.

As a Pensioner I would be quite happy to attend one day a week, collect my money, have a nice meal, fall asleep and get first class travel back home

Apparently, sanctions on Russia have dropped Russian imports to the Uk to a 21-year low. However, there has been a five-fold increase in imports of coal, coke and briquettes. Is our Green agenda so important that we have to import these from Russia when the UK sits on a huge deposit of coal? I think we should be as Green as we possibly can but we should have been mining our own coal not buying it from foreign nations. It is the using it that is not Green and we are obviously still doing that. I know we stopped mining our coal when it was cheaper to buy it in (mainly at that time from Poland) but surely we should have kept a couple of large collieries in mothballs for just such an occasion.
The UK imported £206 million of goods from Russia in May of which ££48.6 million was the coal products.
We imported no crude oil, chemicals or cereals. We did however continue to import refined oil (diesel probably) and other fuel products (gas?). £150+ million worth.
                So much for tough sanctions.

My latest moan is there's another rail strike coming. I'm all for a fair deal for the workers, and maybe I'm missing something, but train drivers earn a bloody good salary and I think all the other functions attract at least market rates. There are a lot of people earning less for providing essential services.

I dont think the drivers are striking, they have a different union so will probably strike once this strike is settled.;)
I have nothing against unions apart from the fact they think they run the country, lose the politics, look after your members when it matters and get on with it.

@Jocko our PM is releasing turbines to Russia because Germany needs the natural gas those things pump. Germany mothballed all of their clean nuclear energy and now they mostly depend on fossil fuels.

So they and other Euro countries goaded everyone else into "going green" without any regard to the practicality of the methods used to maintain their quality of life.

                      What a load!

Our rail people just settled and their looming strike action was cancelled. The struck just over a year ago and probably remember how tough it was only being able to collect strike pay!

It's too bad our unions forgot their real reason for forming in the first place instead of wanting to collect lots of dues and run the country.

Yep, it's the drivers going on strike.

Train drivers to go on strike on 30 July

They are now, yeah, but up till now it's been other rails unions striking.
As I suggested the drivers will be next, and they are.

Just got a message from my friendly microsoft R sole that from January they will no longer support windows 8 and I need to buy a new PC.
The friendly message then went on to suggest what next piece of their junk I should buy.

                              W*nkers.

Why are they winking at you  ;)

Anyways, if you do get a new pc, check Amazon refurbished ones. Definitely worth the money and the guarantees are very good and efficient judging by the comments. I guess they have to be as people do hesitate to buy a refurbished one.
