Overcast again but still dry and not unpleasant.

A very pleasant evening in the studio restringing my balalaika; I was treating the balalaika with a lot of TLC when one of the old strings bit me; I've restored lots of really big machinery without receiving a single scratch but this beats all; I've explained to it though if it ever does it again I've got a sledge hammer; I now smell of Germolene;

Well I've been pottering but have been coming indoors every 20 mins or so, to cool off and make a cuppa even though I enjoy it I can't stay in it all the time.
The heat has become a bit oppressive now, the back of my house gets sun from mid day until 9 pm this time of year and the heat just builds up.

We are indeed Vicky just had a lovely meal and now enjoying a glass ...or 2 of a nice red wine. 21C.

The day started off with clear skies & 17C but as the morning wore on light high cloud put in an appearance. The sunny may have been hazy but the heat kept creeping up till we hit 27C! During the PM the cloud seemed to dissipate somewhat. The skies are now clear once again but the heat is going down very quickly! If it keeps up like this everyone will have trouble getting 8 hours sleep!

We are still on track for the extremely high temps of the coming 3 days & we are even forecast a possible 40C here on Tuesday!!!! 40C has never before been recorded in the UK so, even if we don't hit 40C it is still likely to be a new record! The highest temp recorded in the UK was 38.7 in 2019 at Cambridge Botanical Gardens. We were on a slow train returning home after a few days at the seaside.

 

Cloudy all day with a quick, light shower early evening that attempted to make the ground wet and failed. 16C/61F

Many thanks @Michael Hewett; @Logan & @Victoria for your concern; normally it wouldn't have bothered me but the balalaika string was very old and rusty; it did surprise me though because it went in deep; makes a change from hitting my finger with an hammer.
