To be fair to the landlady of ours, she was mortified when I sent pics showing the state of the place and is going to talk to the people that left it like that. Although I think if I was the boss I'd just cancel them for next week.

We've decided to cancel our booking for the next two weeks, and I've been fully up front with the landlady in that I'm currently deciding between finding another venue, or drawing a line under it and starting fresh in a couple of weeks to see how it goes. The thing that's bothered me most is there's been a few times when due to various lurgies, we've had hardly anyone there. One time it was literally just me and one friend, but we kept the booking anyway because I didn't like to mess the landlady about. Then I take one week off due to covid and she's gives my slot away for three weeks. Maybe the other group paid more. If that's the case I hope it covers the lost bookings from me, and a friend who also books the hall fairly regularly, who's just cancelled his booking for this Sunday after seeing the state of the place yesterday.

 

Door bell rings, time I get there, nobody just 12 litres of water.
In bottles of course.

I never drink the stuff so I didn't order it. Confused dot com.

 

Perhaps Mid Kent Water are getting ready to turn the water off

 

Just checked with a neighbour and they didn't get any so likely just a bad delivery to wrong place.
Dump it and run.

 

I said to the neighbour I'll use it to water my plants, she said no you cant do that, this stuff is expensive.
Her family actually buys and drinks this stuff.

I said, not very green is it, sending plastic bottles filled with water from Wales all this way.
The strange thing is, these people that are so environmentally friendly seem to be the types that buy this stuff.

And why, I get it from a tap but mostly use it for washing, but its drinkable if your thirsty and always has been.

I've been hearing a dog howling for the last 3 or 4 hours, not from next door this time but from a house over the back from me.
I hear it howling every morning because its been left outside, not sure why.
And now its howling because its been left indoors, presumably they have gone out and left it.

When will they bring in a law that says moronic idiots cannot have animals.

 

After 5 pm contact the Night Noise team of your local council. We used to have a neighbour whose dog would howl half the night right through the wall from our bedroom.

 

My Dad and his wife have Covid. They are in their 80s and getting quite fragile. Dad's feeling fine and we had a good Skype call, remembering (of all things!) old cafes in Helsinki and the delights of exotic treats such as Banana Split. With a tiny paper umbrella.

In times like this I feel the miles between us, them in Finland and us here in the UK. My brother is doing a stellar job in keeping The Oldies fed and watered, but we siblings know that the day when it's time to have the talk about the future is getting very near.

Dad and his wife are sort of complimenting each other's gaps so are doing just fine in their flat for now, but it is very clear that especially my Dad's wife is growing very forgetful and frail.

Moving from their home into a senior house will be a huge step, and I'm quite concerned how the loss of their daily routines will affect them. My grandmother at the time took it stoically (as always, she just got on with things ) but I'm quite concerned about these two.

I just want them to be comfortable and happy. At the moment a lot of their happiness is about the daily long walks in the woods, foraging and cooking so if that's taken away I'm not sure where they will find their happiness.

Very depressing afternoon, but at least my Niece, 7, has nearly decided on what kind of a backpack she wants for school. Little things and little people are bright sparks in this life
