It's 27c and sunny.

When was the last UK hosepipe ban?

It's actually 27C in the shade on our Kitchen patio now.

 

It's a lovely summer day

 

Only dropped to 13°C overnight. Today is a beautiful sunny day and despite the patchy cloud, the temperature is already 23°C. Very hot in the sun despite a good breeze.

Many thanks wiseowl; yes I'm positive my glass is rated as half empty and I'm optimistic it will soon be empty; living here in Yorkshire seems forever especially during our long cold dark winters; I'm just surprised we've enjoyed a nice hot summer this year it reminds me of 70 years ago as a child. It's being so cheerful that keeps me going.

Rain was forecast for this afternoon so I've been working outdoors where it's been very pleasant indeed;



If rain keeps being forecast I'm sure they'll get it right eventually but I hope they keep forcasting rain until Sunday allowing me to complete the new garden steps.



Top two side panels already made and drying so they can be installed tomorrow; whoopee.

A lot of our plants are dying and we will have to choose which ones to try and save from next week.Heart breaking, I think we will probably dig them up sooner rather than later as we won't be able to bear having dead plants in the borders...too sad .

I find it interesting that it says filling and maintaining ornamental ponds will be banned using a hose.
Most bans I remember have always allowed pond filling if the pond contains fish. Its been considered livestock and allowed.

 

What about watering football pitchies, this also should be stopped

 

They are great Colin and you are doing a stellar job, but perhaps you should put your grafting/handiwork in the What You are Doing in the Garden Today and not the Weather Thread.

 

... and Golf Courses like here ... it is just a hobby/
