No I won't Michael but thanks, they are so brown and dried up and ugly looking, a lot are prolific self-seeders anyway. I have saved a few seed pods from each one .

Next year will require a big rethink, our water authorities have be warning us for the last few years about concerns over the Rivers Test and Itchen, our main water supplies.

Things will need to change and we all have our part to play in making it happen.

    Have a lovely weekend.x

      Good day
It is lovely and sunny and for now a very comfortable 68f 18c. The guessers say it will get hot later but for now, I've got the windows open and am scooping in as much fresh air as possible. :)

I've got laundry on the go and have already trimmed back the lavatera that kept trying to tangle itself in the umbrella dryer lines. Honestly, the last time I had lavatera it did not grow that tall so I stupidly put this tall one where it wouldn't fit!

@Upsydaisy I feel for you. We are lucky and have not had a watering ban so my sprinkler system waters all the ground level zones at 4 in the morning. There is one area out front where the spray does not reach so I may hand water later using collected rain water. My rain barrels although not big like the ones I hear about over there have really done a good job of providing water for me to use with the watering cans. And the water is only collected from my little greenhouses, not the roof of the house. If I had it set up to collect the roof water, I'd need much bigger barrels as mine are only 40 and 55 gallons.

I hope everyone has a lovely relaxing Saturday.

      Cheers :coffee:

I have been thinking of having a water barrel too, it would save some tap water, but I don't know where I'd put it, and since we get lots of rain here anyway I don't think I'll bother for now ... it's just a thought.

I am also going to get rid of some plants @Upsydaisy, ones that don't perform well, like Astilbe, they flower for about two weeks in the year and then turn brown, and they get big and take up too much room that could be used for something that lasts longer (like what I don't know yet)

@Michael Hewett thanks for the information. :dbgrtmb:I was waffling about getting an Astilbe because of the height but I prefer as much continuous colour as I can get. Particularly with our short growing season!

We have lots of water butts and 2 bins, unfortunately they are bone dry too now. When we do get a good rainfall they all fill up really quickly, not the prettiest of things but definitely plant savers.

                      Good morning ! :)

I've got one of the main borders reasonably sorted , most unnecessary /dying plants along with their root systems have been removed leaving more opportunity for the living ones to absorb any extra moisture......well that's my theory, might not prove so.;)

I even found a small Dahlia that I didn't realise was there. I do recall last Autumn planting a tiny bit of broken off tuber from a Dahlia cutting that I got from my parents garden....this new plant was from that as it has the same dark leaves too. Despite not being cared for ...or watered( :yikes:) it's looking very healthy!:dbgrtmb: .It was a lovely surprise indeed. It will need to be moved though as it's right up against another Dahlia but that can wait until a bit later, and :fingers crossed::fingers crossed: after a couple of rainfalls.

I'll hopefully carry on doing the same clear -out of another border today.
The only issue will be that I don't have many more potted plants to fill the gaps that will be left.

                      Oh well..Que serra serra !!

                      Have a peaceful Sunday.

                      :spinning:

We are starting the day with 22c and calm so it will be a heavy air day but T'other Half wants to finish the wall today It is looking great!

Not much else going on here, just a relaxing Sunday watching some afternoon TV, usually Vera as it is 90 minutes.

                        Have a good one everyone.

It's not exactly what I would describe as 'lovely' ....yet @Flumpy as it's only a teeny weeny surprise baby!!, but next year it should flower. I'm just extremely happy as that will be the 3rd plant propagated from my cutting that I got from the original plant that was in my parents garden. :hapydancsmil:

It is already 26c so T'other Half is sensibly having a day off The Baffa work giving his back a rest. I am having a day off cycling so will do lots of walking in circles around the house (inside of course). The furries are both back on the bed. :cat-kittyandsmiley::cat-kittyandsmiley:

Aawe I’ll look for to the surprise Upsydaisy, my dad used to have lots of Dahlias but this year he’s got red and white Geraniums and in the hanging baskets which are massive the year, bright yellow Begonias, I will take a photo of them next week :spinning:

Vicky I love lazy days like that, it’s dull and raining here, I’ve had to prop all my tall daisies up off the ground :noidea:……. I know Upsydaisy “at least we’ve got rain” but remember I’m filling all them barrels up to roll down to you :heehee:
