Oh now I feel really bad at missing the turning @shiney, not just the posh tea-set but a sparkling teapot and patio!!
I will make it tomorrow I've packed my map and sat nav.

Is it ok to bring my friend too?

Weeding in rain..how lovely. It will be a lot easier than trying to chisel them out...I'm eyeing up hubs drill...but shhh don't tell him.

Same as yesterday the 'Save At Least A Few Of The New Plants' mission continues.

Done some more sad disposals and fortunately found a couple more potted Dahlias to fill some vacated gaps..far from perfect but better than nothing. 20220731_105357.jpg

Yesterday afternoon I started to tidy up one of the nursery areas although that's not my domain. I would guess there were about 400 pots of plants there. The area is paved and then there is 20ft x 3ft run of black membrane to keep the pots on. Even with selling quite a lot of plants the pots had over run, over the years, onto the remaining 3ft wide paving.

Mrs Shiney has been saying for ages that she wants to sort it out but she has too many other things to do. So I had a go at it. I took all the pots off the area, found about 50 of them were dead so dumped them. I then swept the area of leaves soil and other rubbish and half filled a wheelie bin although it was still a muddy mess. I then carefully pressure washed the membrane and put all the pots back in large trays and made it all nice and neat. Then I started pressure washing the paving that hadn't been cleaned for over 30 years.

Total time spent was about three hours.

Early this morning I filled another 32 litre tub with bindweed, then had breakfast and then decided it was time to wake the neighbours with finishing the pressure washing. :heehee:

The one hour I estimated ended up being two hours but it looks a lot better. I've had a very hot shower to ease the muscles (seems to have worked quite well) and Mrs Shiney has cleaned and sorted out the nasty graze/bruise to my elbow area that looked a lot worse than it was. It was caused mainly by carelessness and muscle tiredness. The pressure was on full as I was backing around the corner of the greenhouse (still doing the paving) and I suddenly reached the end of the pressure hose without noticing. So ended up smashing my elbow onto the corner timber upright. I should have moved the whole washer first!

Just popping back out to sort out all the cables and hoses and put it away. Then I hope to be able to pick some more beans for our meal with guests this evening.

The forecast rain didn't appear although it was overcast. Must have been the wrong sort of clouds :dunno:

It rained this morning so not much, just watered the pots that the rain can't get to.

Finished revamping two more borders, hopefully with less root systems running through them more plants will survive this awful drought we're having down here.

Potted plants were gathered up to become space fillers. :)

Then I used a watering can to water and feed the borders that have been done so far.
Also fed the Strawberries, Tomatoes and Cucumbers.

The 2 borders that were done today.....a bit sparse looking but it has to be the survival of the fittest. 20220731_115910.jpg 16592879071387018553077178824912.jpg

I've been quite busy today in the garden. Lots of deadheading in the front mostly salvia huge pile to much to chop up with the shears so mowed them. More deadheading in the back garden and tidying of old allium stems . Took some cutting of the salvias I doubt they'll take not right material but got nothing to lose so why not .

Mowed the lawn and edged it , tidied the GH , give the potted plants a feed .

It is 24c already and slightly humid so I have watered my seedlings and plantlets and come back in. That's it for me till late afternoon when I will oi that again. I always say I will not do seeds July and August, but ... :noidea: And I have Vigna caracalla (Corkscrew/Snail Vine) seeds coming and a pot ready for them!

Weeding around the rhododendrons in the back garden and cutting back the ivy and a lot of brambles. But it's too hot now so back indoors.

Another border sorted out, fortunately it didn't need much tweaking . Boy it's hot work! 20220801_142819.jpg

Sad looking bare patch, I have a Dahlia waiting to go in there, but not in this heat I'll wait until September now. I also have 2 new perennials in there.... somewhere... that I grew from seed, I plan intensive nurturing as I want them to spread.

                              20220801_143000.jpg

Despite being pro active with the watering even the poor Sunflowers are looking downright miserable.

                              As well as our.......'lawn'.

Laundry is now ready to hang out and I am going to wash the downstairs floors before turning my attention to the next border to tweak a bit here and there.

I applied huge amounts of water to the garden. I should rent out my hose to Southern Water. Every time I use it the rain comes on!
