I'm not on prime or on the 30 day trail but i've been getting next day delivery :) even when i click for free 3-5 day delivery, If you have the time to look at some items in your basket you'll see some may have priority delivery which is next day, but you will only see this at the last page of the payment page, so it's a nice way to get some items next day with out paying postage :) so if you need ie some cable ties in the furture add to basket with your other items just to see if it has priorty delivery (some items will some won't so check)
I ordered 3 items yesturday 1 priority delelivery and 2 free 3-5 day but they have all been delived today by royal mail (posty)

I find Amazon a pain. Especially the bit where the Prime box is already ticked.
Half the time you dont know where its coming from.
I avoid the shysters if I can and buy direct from somebody/company.

I have bought stuff on Amazon from T&M because they are selling it cheaper there than on their own site. I have Prime membership and that saves a fortune over postage from companies own website.

I stopped using Amazon when they hiked their prices. Their postage charge is now so expensive it is often at least twice the price of the item.

I buy so much from Amazon that the Prime membership pays for itself. I seldom stream any films or series and I still benefit. The one membership covers me and my wife.

Unfortunately the postage of most things online puts me off buying.
I much prefer to go and get it myself if I can, and have a look at what I'm buying.

Online is usually the last resort for me when I cant get it locally.

I agree with you Pete and many companies will charge more for delivery to the Highlands, if they will deliver here at all. I could understand it back on the island but not here on the mainland.

I used to have Amazon prime for convenience but since covid we stopped using it and use UK based retailers like Argos or W H Smith. Often with Argos we collect from a nearby Sainsbury's. We have found Wilkos online are much cheaper than Amazon including delivery providing we order a few things at once.

I didn't know that Wilko's have online shopping John. I'll take a look when I next need to buy. Unfortunately their nearest shop is in Aberdeen, more than 100 miles away.

I love Amazon, not being a driver can be a hassle with larger purchases. It's also the very best place to buy second hand books, many small retailers and even libraries sell their books there.

Recently I had to replace a non-standard bulb for my floor lamp. Without Amazon I would have waited for the next time I have to go to town, probably would have checked a couple of stores etc. Now I just typed what it said on the bulb into Amazon search, found a three-pack for less than a fiver and the bulbs dropped through the letterbox next day. That's what I call convenient. :)

Morrisons groceries are great, they do same day deliveries free with Prime. For live Morrisons I would have to pay for the bus ticket so it's a convenient and economical.

Etsy is also good for supporting small retailers but needs more care to find reputable sellers. I have been very happy buying plants from enthusiastic semi- professional individuals.

I think Jeff Bezos has enough money, mostly by under underpaying taxes, so we have been using Oxfam books online since covid, they charge a very reasonable postage even though the books may come from several different shops. I sometimes use abebooks as they are just as cheap for singletons. The other place we buy is the Book Barn, it's ok if you want to order a few at once.

We read a huge amount of books between us, 99% on the Kindle. I signed up for Kindle Unlimited at £7.99/month and we get almost all out reading for no further charge. You can have 10 books at a time, so if my wife and I are reading the same series she can be several books ahead of me without me having to return them. It is like having a huge library at my fingertips.
