A very warm sirocco type breeze blowing from the East. 23c already in the shade...
gonna be a hot one but our front windows face East so, by opening them wide - with the patio door open at the other end, it is shaded and comfortable.

                Hi,

Many thanks @wiseowl it must be catching; is this your longest post ever.:dbgrtmb: I'm still grafting in the hot sunshine and enjoying it because it's so rare; I can't believe I'm still in Yorkshire

Thanks for asking John. :) There are many YouTube videos showing how to preserve wooden posts by burning the section which goes into the ground; it's a method used for hundreds of years. I use my very hot MAPP gas torch for burning and because I use rubbish modern treated timber I burn out in the open just in case of toxic fumes. For extra protection I then wrap the burnt section in a couple of layers of heavy gauge polythene sheeting and have also used shed roofing felt. Treated posts if simply installed without taking these precautions will only last a few years before they fail at ground level.

I've just enjoyed a mug of tea so now I'd better resume grafting again before another day slips by; it sure is hot out there.

                Kind regards, Colin.

A lovely summer's day. The overnight temperature fell to 13°C and the morning soon started to warm up. The westerly wind had dropped a bit from what it has been recently and was a welcome cooling zephyr today. The sky clouded over at lunchtime but still, the temperature increased to 25°C. Late in the afternoon, the sun popped through again but it is now solid overcast.

                                Hi,

Thanks @wiseowl I've never heard the quote before but I must be a slave to words because I communicate not keeping quiet. They used to say at work better to be silent and let others think you are stupid than to speak and prove you are stupid; I don't mind in the least being stupid it's how I learn so much.:yes::heehee:

Thanks also for your good wishes; I too hope you've enjoyed a delightful day. It's just been another day of hard graft starting with concreting four posts in and I've just had a lovely hour playing my new Yamaha YEV violin through the Yamaha THR10 amplifier which arrived this morning so I've got a big smile on my face; life's good.

Thanks @Logan for the weather forecast; wonderful isn't it; lets have another 6 months of it; my bones could do with a bit of heat. :)

                                Kind regards, Colin.
