WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2022

Done some deadheading today and planted out a Salvia called Amante its like Amistad but magenta. Tried to stand the veronicastrums up for the umpteenth time but no another fail . Potted on some nepeta cutting and give the pots a drink.

Mowed the lawn yesterday and cut the ivy back on the GH, the grass is growing like crazy now after the hot sunny spell and then 2 week of rain its really taken off .

 

At the moment just watering, this morning watered the blueberries and pots in the front.

 

Today I spent six hours on my hands and knees weeding my shrubbery. I then trimmed the grass edge before putting a couple of bags of Farmyard Manure down on the worst bit of hard soil.

 

Sitting in the cement dust and hot sunshine while the builders were putting steel girders in the wall of my kitchen, in readiness for pulling it down.
I tried repotting a few small cacti in between making cups of tea for the builders, but it was too hot to do anything else.

 

How long has this been going on and when will it be finished? I thought your English builders were there five days a week?

 

It's a very big job @Victoria, and last week not much could be done because they were waiting for the buildings inspector to 'pass' the work so far. He's very slow.

 

Just bought one a couple of weeks ago Geolia, Italian, guaranteed for 30 years, cost 30 Euros, so far T'other Half pleased.

 

Deadheaded the roses, cosmos and pot marigolds. Watered the cosmos and gave them a soluble fertilizer.

 

This morning I planted the last of next year's perennials in my garden and completed weeding the borders. My garden is in semi-shade so it was very pleasant. I love to get down on my knees in the plants. It is amazing what you find.

 

I made a bird table to go under my feeder due to the mess that was attracting rats. After looking up the price of pressure treated wood I decided to use old drapery hardware inventory and spare twinwall meant for a greenhouse. Thoroughly sealed, supported and hopefully will get me through the next few winters. I'm really happy with my zero dollar solution.

 

Nothing much just watering and picking blackberries from my garden.
Going to have a bumper crop because there's no rain.

 

This morning I sowed the seed of Adenium obesum mixed MultiPetal seeds that came yesterday. I think one of my Adenium plantlets is developing buds. I have two Plumeria and four Oxalis triangularis purpurea germinated. My Dianthus chineris, Nepeta mussinii and Cobea seedlings are doing well but not racing away with growth. Just watered them all. Will check on them all again 5ish.

 

To warm to do much. I watered my hanging baskets and flower pouches, did some deadheading and broke up the soil in my large flower bed and by that time I was frazzled. I'll go out again this evening for more watering.
