I think we're stuffed no matter who we end up lumbered with.

I don't like either, but I actually think Rishi will be the least worst of the two. As for him changing his mind, I kind of respect that a bit, if he's changing his mind based on changing data, and not just on a whim.

 

Unfortunately he changes his mind when he thinks he is going against public option rather that because things have actually changed.
The whole lot are just totally out of touch with reality, it unbelievable.

People cant afford to pay energy bills and Truss was saying we need to build the economy and that way people will be able to afford the bills.
So come on rebuild it in three days before the next bill comes in you imbecile.
Are these people really educated or are they just acting stupid.

I'd agree, but just how many golf courses and car-wash businesses have you got round your way? Two more superfluous water-gobbling enterprises it would be hard to imagine. But hey, (at least here in France) it keeps the wheels of commerce turning (and in the case of the golf courses keeps the solicitors off the streets) so that's alright.....

 

Near me, there are sand dunes. As a kid there was always several large ponds over there that were full of frogs and toads and newts and just about everything you'd find in a large natural pond.

There was also a golf course right next to it. The only thing blocking it's expansion happened to be the first in a sequence of large ponds.

The golf course became more popular, and their small club house was demolished and replaced with a large club house, bar and restaurant so they were obviously investing for growth. Trouble is, a massive great pond full of wildlife right on their boundary. Not much chance of getting planning permission to do anything with that.

The pond was there for at least until I was a teenager, and older folks said they'd always known it since they were little. Even in droughts it would shrink but never fully dry out. That is until by pure coincidence, it very suddenly became bone dry almost over night, in perfectly ordinary weather, right around the same time the golf course was clearly being invested in. I'm sure there was no foul play, in a location where nobody really goes at night, where there's a whole beach a few yards away where any water pumped would just disappear into the sand at low tide or get washed away at high tide. About a year later, with the pond now just barren mud, I guess they got their planning permission, as the heavy machinery came in and filled it in, then new turf laid. Trouble is all the sequence of ponds were interconnected, so when the first one vanished pretty much overnight, the others also lost a lot of their water too. The others aren't completely drained, but it's gone from deep enough to swim in to just marsh and a few puddles.

 

My latest moan is Rishi, we pensioners had been promised the Triple lock,
When push came to shove, he managed to find billions for Furlough (people who could access other work) and ditched the Pensioners Triple lock
What is the current Triple lock worth now NOTHING When it is needed once again it will be ditched
I have a state pension and foolishly have a limited Royal Navy Pension, just enough to take me over the Universal credit rate, so I get nothing
Those that did not take a pension but prefered to urinate it agains the labour clubs toilet wall, Now get more help than I ever will
Will the Cons meet their promise of Triple lock this year, Yes if you are mentally ill

 

I am sure water is also pumped to the aqueduct from Haweswater now. Haweswater is the main source of tap water to the Northwest.

As of the 7th August, current stock levels in Cumbria are greater than for the same period last year. West Cumbria's current stock is 99.1% compared to 78.2% last year.

 

I came out this morning and my car was covered in dust. It was hard tell what colour my car is supposed to be. The nearest farmland to us is about 3 miles away so I guess the dust travels well.
